Bleh.. went up to good ole P'Ville last night [small town up in the hills]; went to a gas station to get a pepsi.. there was a chp there & had someone stopped / they were towing his truck away

On the way out he flags me down with his flashlight.. here is our little convo

CHP "How's it going?"

Me "Not bad, you?"

CHP "Doing good, that exhaust is pretty loud there"

Me "It's not bad"

CHP "Can I see your license, reg and ins. please?"

<give it to him - license is tucked nicely beneath my aunts business card - CHP Sergeant>

CHP "Can you pop your hood?"

Me "Sure, you want me to turn the car off?"

CHP "Yeah"

CHP "So it's all stock except for the strut bar?"

Me "Yeup. I don't know if it makes a difference to you, but i've gotten two tickets for the exhaust before and both were taken care of"

CHP "What do you mean?"

Me "Well the first one was signed off by a local CHP up here, she said it wasn't that loud, and the second one was dismissed by the County of Sacramento"

CHP "Why's that?"

Me "They didn't have any proof that it was too loud and it had been signed off before"

CHP "It's pretty close. Don't you get tired of being pulled over for it?"

Me "Nah I like it"

CHP "You like getting pulled over?"

Me "No I like the exhaust"

CHP "Oh. Well here is your license"

Me "Ok thanks"

CHP "By the way, who's card is that?"

Me "My aunt, <her name> - she's a CHP Sergeant"

CHP "Be safe out there"

Me "Thanks"

Bleh.. so yeah.. there is nothing illegal on my car so I didn't even care that he stopped me; yes he could have given me a ticket for my exhaust because it's now at their discretion and they don't have to test it, but it's been dismissed twice before..

Anywho, I'd like to thank the big guy for letting me get stopped by an level headed officer.

Sergeant card idea = Good.

Attorney card idea = Bad.

PD could give a rat's arse about an attorney. They aren't the prosecutor, and it may backfire. My attitude (if I were the officer) would be to ticket you just to call your bluff. Attorneys are expensive, so don't be clownin' the PD.

Glad you got one of the "good guys", fuzion. BTW, never hurts to tell the PD to "be safe out there" as well - Lets them know you're aware of their efforts. :)

:rolleyes Definately a better response than "Of course I love getting pulled over. That way I get to meet our wonderful law enforcement, such as yourself!" :D

that kinda sux here in ky we have no smog tests or no emission crap. There are rednecks running around here with v8 running strait pipe. We can be as loud as we want for the most parts. All you need is a visible muffler and thats about it

Don't you get a nifty wallet card if you donate money to the FOP? The fact that you gave money to retired cops certainly has to help you plead your case when pulled over. My fiance always donates to that and they always call...gotta get in on that deal.

Some people have a real simple solution for neighbors like you - It's called a cinderblock through the sunroof. Can't say that I'd blame them if (and when) it happens.

Ever stop to think some of them might need to get their sleep? Or have a new baby that's keeping them up?

p.s. Learn to spell Georgia. You live there.
