Picked it up yesterday, drove 650 total miles round trip to NC in a rather boring Uhaul. Luckily I had Pandora and a crappy speaker on my phone to keep me entertained. About mid point this year, after constant problems with the Corolla nearly kept me from winning a regional title, I made the decision to focus heavily on Club Racing. I spotted the ad for this and jumped on it immediately.

1 set of sticker R6's, a set of Toyo RA1's for rain, Hoosier Wet's for heavy rain and my old beat up set of Hoosier A3SO5's for bush league autocrosses (non WDCR basically).

Snapped these photos this morning when I went to go pay my garage rent.

This is an Improved Touring B MR2 for SCCA Club Racing. At the moment, it's sprung for VIR so it'll take some testing and development to get it set up for Summit Point Main next season.

More to come later...

LOL! Yea, that is a weird kid... God forbid I actually be productive with my cars and have a hobby that extends past the wrench.

Kinda. ITB (Improved Touring B) is one of the more slower classes of Club Racing. I chose this as, while I do have a VERY big budget for motorsports, I dont have sponsors/free parts/free tires/free anything, so everything falls on my shoulders/pocketbook. My Corolla is actually faster in a straight line and, as I'll see this weekend after I take the MR2 out for it's first shakedown test, it's probably faster on the autocross course (I'll compare times to folks I usually beat or lose to and see the difference).

All in all, it's a great starter car. Not powerful enough to get in trouble but just fast enough to not get bored. Next year will be my first with Club Racing/Time Trials and there is a lot of work to do before I can get a regional license for competition.

I bet it could/will be faster. I think just the basic setup is made for road racing. I've always wanted to drive a SC'd version of these.

Yea, it's probably right in between the Corolla and your pickup in terms of straight line speed. It's definitely a momentum car.

Improved Touring has a LOT of limitations to the class. Under SCCA rules, you can take an IT car and run it in it's Street Prep class but you cannot deviate from IT rules, so I have to use 14x6 wheels. Street Prep cars have their intake free while my plenum is unchangeable. They dont really stack up very well and there is little to no benefit of an IT car in Solo II, especially since it's sprung for VIR (translation: soft).

I'm less concerned about how fast it is on the solo II course right now, just trying to get some seat time on the car and figure out what will need to be changed.

Anyone want to take a stab at the price I paid? In total I got:
-Car
-Radio (not stereo, radio for comm)
-Transponder
-Two jugs of 100 octane
-2 sets of Hoosier R6's (one sticker, one used)
-1 set of Toyo RA1's
-1 set of winter tires (basically for putting on the car while it's just sitting around)
*all tires are mounted on wheels already
-Spare fender (great for when you turn into a bumper car)
-Spare fluids (motor oil/gear oil/etc all via previous owners sponsorships)
-Spare brake pads
-Spare rotors
-New replacement starter/alternator
-FSM (not on disc, actual fsm)
-Car cover

OH my, AW11 sexiness in this thread.

I have always wanted to own one since I helped Joe rip his apart over in College Park. It had a sweet AE111 motor in it, too.
Have fun working on it, y0. (it's not "easy")

$3500?

(I suggested this because I spent $3500 on a car and a bunch of shxt this past weekend, so I'm curious to see who got a better deal. You probably did)

Little bit higher. 4k.

As to who got the better deal, I dunno, what did you buy? All the tires I got with the car alone are worth 2500 new.

Now i feel like an idiot for selling the AW11. Its been a pain in the a** trying to find a clean example again in New England. Cheapest clean example I found was 4800. Good luck with the Next season. Hopefully this car isn't any trouble at all for you.

There is one for sale right now in CT http://www.snowmobilejunk.com/category/ ... e-Car.html

Ad has expired but I'm not sure if it sold or not. It was one of the cars I was looking at buying. Note, this car, like mine, is a race car, not a street car. It will not have a key, windows, locks, etc, so it's only for the track and then back into the garage.

Ahh I am not really that capable of a driver to track a car. But I did love having the Aw11 as a daily. I think that car made me a better driver. No ABS, power steering or traction control are how cars a meant to be. :)

Sorry for jumping in late. Just got home from NJMP. What an awesome deal you got. Well done. Looks like a tow vehicle is in your future... :chuckle:

Just a thought. If she's set up for VIR, perhaps you should take her down there and sort it out. Audi and Trackdaze have consecutive HPDE VIR events in November, giving you 4 straight days of full course track time if you're interested. :bigthumb:

No passanger seat (or ability to put one in due to roll cage design/fire extinguisher/radio) so HPDE is out of the question with this car (not signed to run without an instructor as I've never done anything with NASA, just SCCA).

Tow vehicle is in the works and will be a reality sometime in the near future. I need to figure out budget logistics first for next year.

What kinda tow vehicle are you thinking about? I saw some interesting ones yesterday including a diesel Toureg (hauling an Evo).

I got the following for $3500, all of which is reasonably new (and installed):

-5spd S14 SE w/200k (includes stock wheels w/new tires)
-Work Emotion CR Kai 17x9 +20 w/new-ish Star Specs
-Tanabe Sustec DD Pro Coilovers
-ATS DeftForce LSD
-Kazama tension rods, RUCAs, and rear traction rods
-HKS Hi-Power exhaust

You probably got a better deal, but I'm happy with mine.
