Something cheap Brother... My motorsports budget is massive (I did 30 events this year across the eastern part of the US, went through quite a number of tires and broke just about everything I could on the Corolla), so I need to keep the truck costs down. Something around the 5k or lower range would be most beneficial as I'll only drive it to haul a car.

Assuming there are no schedule conflicts with my racing season next year, this is probably the car I'll wind up bringing to NICOfest too.

Got the car out on course recently.

Before gridding, while swapping tires I noticed that the front right endlink mounting point on the shock housing was broken, meaning I was w/out a front sway. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, especially in a car like my Corolla which as 1000 lbs springs up front and no sway anyway, but this MR2 has 300 lbs springs up front and w/out the sway the car was very unstable. Braking in anything other than a straight line easily unsettled the car and transitions were brutal and had to be taken far too slowly or I lost the car. Not the best of weekends...

Running but not running good. Due to the lack of front end support with the endlink failure, it was quite far off the pace. It will see track time with EMRA at Summit Main in a couple weeks.

Got the car out to Summit for the final Time Trial of the season with EMRA. Projecting that it'd be cold that day, I bought an old set of autocross tires I have (Hoosier A3SO5) , thinking it wouldn't warm up enough for R6's.

Image

I was horribly mistaken, it got up to about 70 that day and there was no way I could have run on the A3SO5's for all the sessions and have them last, so I wound up swapping the tires after the first session and running on some severely beaten R6's.

When the final results were posted and awards were being handed out, I classed 2nd of 7 timed folks in my class.

It was good that I got this first time trial under my belt before the start of next season. I made quite a few bad rookie mistakes that I learned from while going over the day in my head while driving home to put the car back in the shop. Next season I'll be doing the full EMRA season in an attempt to make a championship run.

Nice lap video of ol Summit Main. :bigthumb: It looks nicer without the concrete patches. My line is a little different than yours in a couple of spots, like turns 3 and 7, but I'm typically in a heavier car.

Yea, it was a lot of feeling the car out that day. I was never very settled in the car between the old tires that were making noise (as stated before, Hoosiers with life in them dont make noise) and the very light steering of a MR2 (no motor up front placing weight on the front tires). It's a very different car to drive than my other Toyota, and something I'll be going through a learning process on for a good portion of next year.
