Got my butt handed to me by a Beemer

Well i was coming back from the races in MD @ budds creek and this black 5 series BMW gets right up on me. Now i am on I-95 doing about 85 just crusin. so he gets beside me and we have a clear road and i punch it. Well the BMW passes me at about 120 and keeps going... getting me by at least 2 car lengths...i cant belive it... so i get beside him again and punch it...same story passing me at about 100 and i slow down at 140 and blink the lights and give up....those things have a lot of high end torque or something...the model was 545

Sounds about right...they run high 13 1/4 a tad over 100mph. Nice to see it was so close...

I agree with the gearing being most of the problem. Also they have an extra gear with them.

Also be aware that you can easily chip out a beemer. My buddy has a 2005 545 and he has a Dinan chip in it. Stock it's a close race but w/ a chip I don't stand a chance.

There are some cars I’d pass on in a stop lite to stop light race and the BMW550 is one of them, but you had no idea it was a 550 until you saw the back, huh!! Another set of car I’d pass on in a race would be the Mercedes E550, Mitsu Evo’s.

off the topic, butMy most recent execution was a 300C, yes the C!! Once I saw he had 22’s I knew his a$$ was mine. I'd be curious to see how it would have gone if he had sock rims.

I think it's about time that M45 owners wake up and realize that you are not going to beat a number of cars on the road today.

Just enjoy the fact that you can beat most of the Accords, Civics, and Corollas out there.

Don't pick on any V8 (and some sixes) with real power and a good transmission.

Not very good for the ego.

i think he meant the 545i e550 and Evo are cars that he would avoid racing. I have tried to go against a Evo and it wasnt even from a stop. I thought maybe i would have a shot at the top end...but traffic was bad that day and every time we got cut off he was accerlerate back up alot faster so i finally just gave up.

yes avoid the evo, subi sti's., bmw 545-550, e550, etc.. I've driven all of these cars in the past since I've owned my M and they are on another level when it comes to speed. Our M's are fast but those cars are faster.

Our M's have been known to take out Mustangs(non GT), 300C (with big rims), 350Z(stock) and a few other.

m45 cant even brake in 100 mph in 1/4.stock sti, evos ran over 100. we will never catch them. they different animals. will rip us apart. i had 02 wrx with minor mods and ran 13.5 @100.i heard new altima v6 6 speed is 99mph in the 1/4 , that is faster them m45.is anybody get there *** whooped by one yet?

Mustang GT? I've eaten a few of them and the Charger R/T's. Haven't raced an EVO but I did race a Impreza and he barely beat me. Didn't know what kind it was, it didn't have a badge of any kind, they shaved everything off, but it was fast.

But yea, our cars are fast for a luxury car in it's class, but by no means a race car nor a German sports car.

There was actually a few people who have gone 100 in the 1/4 mile in their M's. It's all about the driver and conditions.

"decided to give the m another shot at the gtech pro today.this car suprises me more and more each day!for some reason i could not disable the traction control my first few passes and they were horrible!14.8@97 and 14.7@98 iwas pissed!gonna take it to the dealer to check that out.so i turned the beast off and back on and turned off vdc and was back to business!last pass 13.91 @104.9!i could'nt help but fly home and crack open some beers for celebration!!!by the way,my launching was with a half throtle jump andthan punch it with about five feet of rubber on the ground!"
