Heya all, wanted to drop in and introduce myself. Finally got a 240sx of my own. Bought it from a private seller, 1995 240sx Base model. KA engine, auto transmission (boo). Clean title, 2 owners altogether (one being the old lady who bought it new, and they guy I bought it from, who had it for a month or two). Bone stock and ready to go. She has 130k miles on it, but due to the miracle of tax returns and tuition assistance, I have gotten my hands on a S14 SR20DET with 5spd transmission AND the harness, ready to be dropped in. I just gotta find out where I am going to go take it to, because I know I won't be able to do it myself, and being new to the 240sx community, haven't mingled with the gear-heads yet, but I will. I do plan on modding her a bit, but rest assured, no rice here. First and formeost, I want to get the red paint off, thinking black or silver, or white, dunno which yet. Looking at some Tien coilovers as a hand-me-down from a buddy as well. I do want to mess with the turbo and such, but that will have to wait till i get the scratch built up. I got a deal on an HKS cat back system, but I gotta wait for the SR install before I can put it on, as well as getting some decent headers to go with it. I would like to do some more with boost control and such, and i will, once I learn more about it. But for now, I am just happy that I finally got one, lol. Thanks for having me.

I live in Phoenix, Arizona. Getting my masters in Computer Information Systems, and work full time as a security officer. Sure, it's lame, but I get to do my homework and post on 240sx forums the whole time I am there, so it works out.

Don't laugh at the wheelcovers, lol, I am getting rims as soon as I can. Anyone know if there is a kit for shaving that ugly antenna off? Or is it just fiberglass and paint time?

What's the matter with Red???

You have big plans, good luck with them! Hook up with some local guys for hands on help. You will see your car take on a new shape in no time.

No disrespect to red, lol. Just not my gig I guess. Plus I grew up with dad always saying "red vehicles get into 65% more accidents that any other color car" all the time, and he kinda gave me a complex, hahah. Yers looks good though!

why in the world would you mess with that paint? and why can't you install the exhaust? all the cat-backs bolt up the same. your plans seem kind of fuzzy...since you're new to it, maybe you should drive the ka into the ground and then when you're more familiar with the car you can do the swap yourself. it's really not that hard.

I can't explain my aversion to the red paint...maybe it's akin to a splinter that you can't dig out. It just...bothers me, I guess. Also, I guess you are right about the exhaust, when I bought it, it was labeled SR so I figured it would have to go on the SR. Either way, the swap will be done within a few weeks now, so might as well hold out till it's done. And I wasn't meaning that I can't do the swap alone because I am not mechanically inclined, I meant because of lack of space, proper tools, and the like. I've been around cars plenty.

Not being sarcastic, because I indeed do want to know all I can about my ride, but what else seems fuzzy about my plans?

What about the color of the car in your sig? I like that over red any day, but that's just my $0.02 ^^

Welcome! Beautiful car!

Pay Attention: you sound like you are on the rite track, the s14 sr should be a lot of fun. Please don't touch the paint or body. Trust Me! You will regret it someday. Your car looks amazing!

I'm on my phone or I'd post some pics of hot, red zenkis. Someone find some pics fast for this guy!

Standard, thanks for the welcome. I swear, you guys are changing my mind about the red, lol. I will hold out on painting it then...for now. Anyways, it'll be more capitol to go towards the go-fast/look good parts, right?

Red Nissans are bad luck. they are worse than black cats.

Beer is also bad luck.... along with spray painted hub caps.

Lol, the caps came like that...not sure if it's spray or something else. The guy who I bought it from said the lady that owned it prior to him "had them painted". Either way, they are gone pretty soon.

Hey sorry for the thread jack but WRETCHED that car in your avatar yours? If it is, do you have pics of it? I want to do a gold 240sx with a silvia front end and I couldn't ever find pics of gold silvias online.

maybe it was the 'turbo and such' and 'boost control and such' that made me wonder. and the fact that you were going to paint over the nearly flawless red good luck though, you've got a great platform to start with. Just get out there and find someone to help you do the swap.

Thanks Wretched...I may have been a bit too vague, but I didn't want to make a mongo post on all the plans I have...you always see people replying saying "too much to read" lol. I have been convinced to leave the paint alone, seeing as it's gonna cost me around $1500 to get it done right (door jambs, inside engine bay, trunk, as well as exterior), and that could be money spent on other things, like rims and suspension components, or just to get the SR put in.

Lol, right on Slide, I think that was the one that did it. I am officially now gonna leaver her red, lol. The rear bumper is a little oxidized, bu I can fix that. Anyways, more $$$ to spend on the rest.

Yeah, I am down there quite a bit. We always hit up the Eegee's there because there aren't any in Phoenix anymore, lol. That Pina Colada slush ftw. But I can dig on too much 240's man, I still haven't many anyone around here. Tue, haven't been at it too long, but still. I will definitely hit you up next time I come down. You can show my the best shops down there, lol. Been trying to hookup with Import Powerhouse up here for help with putting the SR in, but their voicemail box is full so you can't leave a message, and they never reply to emails. I am just gonna have to drive my a** over there, lol.

Silver/Gray cars actually get into more accidents... (blends in with the road) RED FTW!!!

Good start, lot of potential!
