I was hit yesterday on the way to Thanksgiving Dinner :(
Lady ran a stop sign and creamed the rear end going about 40 mph. No one was hurt majorly. Just sore!

What say ye NICO-- Am I totaled? I love my M, but I definitely don't want to drive it rebuilt.

I really didn't have much time to look at all the underneath damange, but the a-arm is shot, all the braces that hold it in are broke. It shifted the entire independent rear assembly about 2" to the drivers side. transmission wouldn't shift into neutral to have it towed. Bags did deploy on the passengers curtain and seat.

Thanks everyone!

Bummer. How much (ball park - hopefully not EBay full price of $700 lol) for the lights in general then? Specifically, the passenger head light? I'd prefer to change to sport, but my passenger side is dirty on the inside (my headlight bulb cap came undone and let moisture in and it left some water spots)...if you can somehow get it off the car after insurance totals it, I'd be interested.

I'm toying with the idea of opening the lights and installing a clear lens to improve the HID output.

That would be cool to install a clear lens. Never thought of that.

Yeah-- after insurance totals it out- we'll part out anything you guys want if the buy back price isn't too high for me!

Do you mind taking pics of the rest of your car? Maybe we can figure out what to buy off you, if you decide to buy it back

Sorry about your M :( Thankfully, nobody was hurt though! I guess you had a lot to be thankful for in thanksgiving. It could've ended much worse.

Edit: I'd be so pissed off about her running the stop sign. Some people have no regard for anyone's safety on the road. :nono:

Man... that looks bad. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. GL on the outcome of everything. Be sure to do a couple of follow up's with the Doc's to make sure there is no hidden neck / back issues with the passengers in your car.

You'd be surprised. I got rearened about (2) years ago in my 06 M35 sport. I was hit so hard the roof was even buckled. My insurance didn't total it. They originally agreed to repair it for $16,500, but only ended up costing $15,000. I was shocked they wouldn't total it.

I also did a diminished value claim, and I got $5,000 for that so in total they paid about $20,000. It was stupid on their pair, but to tell you the truth I really wanted my car back.

If you're in a state that allows diminished value claims, and they do fix it, make sure you DO a diminished value claim.

Whoa! Thank goodness no one was hurt. This thread reminds me of little Johnny asking Tommy's mom if he could come out to play. She tearfully tells him he died in his sleep. Johnny asks if he could have his sneakers... :gotme

If they do fix it, I can't stress enough that you have to do a dimished value claim on it. If they fix it, it will be worth less and you need that money. Bascially, the whole rear end of my car was replaced, and that will show on carfax and you need to get that money back. If you happen to be in TX, I can help you with the process.

Good thoughts everyone, I need to look and see if Oklahoma allows diminished vehicle claims. I believe so, as long as I am not at fault....
Insurance talked with me today. Since the bags went off and the "unibody" as he called it is ruined, they will "more than likely total it." So, we'll see where that goes. I should know more about the situation by Thursday.

That is absolutely crazy that they repaired with 15k worth of damage. I serioulsy doubt that my M is worth that anymore. She's been great to me. But, I have put over 100k on her. I will miss her horrible!!!! :frown:

Yes, totaled. With damage that bad, I am glad to hear everyone is okay :ohno:

As far as insurance value, M's are PRICELESS in my book. They should be giving you $50,000 :mike

Ha, yes I do live in Oklahoma. Muskogee to be exact.

Didn't hear from insurance today. Hopefully I will hear something tomorrow from them. I'll keep you guys posted on buy back and parting it out to everyone.
