I just got my GP SPorts Spec D exhaust from Touge Factory. Looks sweet. I asked this before but I want to know how hard it is to install with jack stands. There isnt alot of room down there with them. This is my first exhaust install and I really dont want to strip any bolts. Should I just wait and pay someone to do it, or is it just a waste of money because it is easy enough to do myself? And if you have this exhaust... was it an easy install for you?

we installed apexi duals on a s13 with jackstands on the rear of the car only.. takes a couple of people to do it but it wasn't that hard at all... took about 20 minutes...

one to hold it in place.. and the other to line things up... it's good to have more people so they can help you make it go faster and hold things up.

Haha well Im 17. Dont think my parents would like to walk out and see me throwin back a few brewskis with a 3000 pound car up on jacks. Haha. Id like to see there faces tho.... maybe i will.

How difficult were the bolts to get off. Im gonna soak them like hell with some liquid wrench. I dont wanna pull a muscle just to strip a bolt.

A nice 3-4 foot pipe on the end of a breaker bar or wrench works wonders. :D It made getting the bolts off of my springs/struts a piece of cake. Not sure if you can break anything by using it on the exhaust though, but I don't think you can.

its only hard if the bolts are rusted. I just took off my exaust for the second time and the hardest part was getting the hangers off the rubber peices

They should come off easy since you soaked them in oil. I use this pb spray it has a yellow top it works almost rightaway. Saved me alot of time.

Well I got everything off except the bolts connecting it to the cat.I was so excited cuz everything was working great. but the bolts connecting to the cat. are rusted as hell. Soaked it with liquid wrench so hopefully it will budge tomorrow. But it wasnt budging at all tonight.

I use the end of the bar for one of my hydrolic jacks and a wrench.

Actually, to get the hangers off I lube it with dish washing soap. It works the best and is cheap.

Impacts are good but i've had bolts that couldnt be pulled with impact.... only breaker bar or cheater bar...

have to be careful also ...especially with exhaust

ok then take a regular ratchet and socket and slip a bar over the end.... its called a cheater bar ... exactly what Queamore was saying with the hydraulic bar.... any bar should work fine

it just gives you more leverage

You should call MR. GOODWRENCH, I bet he will help. HAHA. I bet an exhaust place will hang it for about $40-50, thats if you don't want to tackle it yourself. Nick

Ya... well I guess I will have to resort to that. I think I just stripped it. Unless anyone has anymore suggestions.

I dont have a blow torch, I dont have a dremel. What should I do?And getting a tool to adjust to the strip wont neccessarily mean I can get this nut off. It is really rusted on there tight.I may be able to find a friend who has a dremmel. If so, what do I do. I really dont want to spend 50 bucks to have a mechanic put it on since my only problem is 2 ****in nuts.
