So, im not new to forums, just this one. Selling my built 04 sti to buy a 95 s14.5 with a sleeved sr and a v mount setup and all the gizmoes and gadjets, but i have a few questions for you guys that i could find in the search bar..

first off, the car has an s1 transmission in it, and judging by the build on the car, i assume its a good transmission. can anyone point me in the right direction for some info on this? tried everything with no luck..

and another thing, im coming from an AWD car, how do these things handle in the winter??

thanks guys

Never heard of the transmission, so i cant help you there.

Have to laugh about your last Q though. Hehe, lightweight RWD sports car in the winter FTMFL. If you live in a winter climate and plan to drive this thing, you will need a set of steelies with snow tires.

I have no idea what the S1 transmission you speak of is.

As far as snow goes, S14s handle pretty well as long as you keep the turbo under boil, with a good set of snow tires, they are perfectly drivable. A 2 way clutch type LSD will actually be worse in the winter, being so notchy will tend to throw the car off balance in certain grip compromised situations. For the best snow traction, a viscous differential is the first choice.

Remember, your 04 subaru may have been rust proof because it was so new, but S14s are getting old, and they tend to rust easily in nasty places. I would strongly advise finding yourself a winter beater, your under body will thank you.
