Nice edit, Princess.

Say something stupid, you're gonna get called on it. Get used to it, that's the way the world works, kiddo.

You can "hope" bad things on me all day long - Won't change a thing. Maybe you should try not being an a$$, and maybe your "luck" would change.

I'd bet you got another couple tickets because you were spittin' attitude.

You gotta learn how to maneuver in the world. It ain't hard if you pay attention.

Doesn't say I've NEVER gotten one.

Police work involves a certain level of DISCRETION, which is each officer's professional decision to exercise (or not).

I have buddies who work patrol who will pretty much give a warning for anything less than 15-over IF you have your license / registration / insurance in order and current.

Reason? You're a responsible citizen, just going a little too fast.

FOR every time I've been cited, there's 100 times I *should* have been and didn't get one. Therefore, I don't whine when it happens.

Whoa whoa whoa... I don't think Matt's post was a slam. Re-read it.

Let's keep in mind, someone calls me (or one of my staff) an a-hole, they're gonna get called out. Same as if it was in person.

Point is, guy is driving around with a busted HL and tinted windows, BOTH of which he knows are ticketable offenses. There's really nothing to rant about.

For what it's worth, I think it sucks that he got a ticket in the first place.

WAIT. Read ^ that again. Yep. I said it.

But it happens, and calling the cop a "jackoff" because you don't like the outcome is immature and ignorant.

p.s. You misspelled "Nissan" in your profile... and "Kumho" in your mods list. Just being a helpful a-hole.

According to the jusge when I got a ticket for tints on my VW the legal limit is 75% and I was like whats the point and he was like exactly. What i've heard is you can have 35 on the front any anything in the back. The minivans are like that. The cop needs to be able to see your face .

Greg's not my boss and he surely needs no help from me to teach someone a lesson on here. Show me where I misspoke or attacked someone besides making a valid point?

I will step out of my "professional" attitude to say you are acting like a spoiled douche.

Yep.

Our Frontier has factory tint, and it's actually darker than the state-legal limit. But since it's OEM, and not applied aftermarket, all we had to do was show the judge a letter from the dealership stating there was no ADDED tint to the rear glass.

Besides, super-dark tint is kinda silly - I guarantee it impairs your outward vision at night, and darker does not automatically mean cooler / less heat.

lol this is funny.. Being a person that has gotten 2 tint tickets on my first car and then another 2 tint tickets on my second car and having gotten numerous amounts of speeding and or traffic violations i must admit that getting tickets sucks.

but.... If you give the officer any kind of 'tude he or she will usually write the ticket. Being friends with a few "jerk off" officers myself they all know my record and have told me many times to just "abide by the law"

Its taken me along time to figure out that the best way to avoid tickets or getting pulled over for that matter is to not do anything illegal!

Don't call someone a jerk off because they are doing their job. I mean seriously

Definitely hurts vision out the side/rear at night. I've got 5% rear and 20% fronts. I love the look, but the backup camera definitely helps at night. Also, while many might find this odd, I think the darker tints help my vision forward at night. There's less ambient light entering my eyes from the cabin, so they stay more dilated allowing me to see better out the front.

I've got no quantitative data on this, but that's how it seems to me. When I scraped the 20% tints off the front for that last year or so (to stay legal in Illinois), I found it harder to drive at night. More often than not, not being able to see what is immediately next to me isn't that big of an issue. I'm more concerned with what is in front of me when I'm going 60 or so on the highway. I can usually see other cars fine from the headlights, and I tend to pay more attention to my surroundings than others (at least it seems that way), so I know when cars are approaching from behind me.

For the record, the most annoying thing about pulling my front tints was the headlights of trucks/etc behind me. It was almost blinding until I got used to it again. I guess I'll have to see how my eyesight fares as I age and my eyes naturally become less capable...

I'm running 35% front and 20% rear and it seems to work well. When I had 20% F/R on a previous car I did notice some limitations at night to see left and right. Of course, rolling the window down solves that problem. Buddy of mine had his jeep done at 5%, talk about not seeing anything

I've driven vans/trucks without rear windows, so the back at 5% doesn't really scare me. I wanted to go 5% on the front sides, but decided against it. I thought it would bring too much heat from the cops, plus, I'd still be a bit concerned about the safety of it. I'm sure I could cope, but I don't think it's necessarily worth the risk...

I get you on the ambient light thing - Try this:

Dial down your dash lighting. When I'm on the freeway (especially), I prefer the interior as dark as possible.

Higher-quality tint (not plural, it's annoying) means you can get good heat rejection w/o the extra darkness.

It's as low as it'll go. I've also cranked my head unit way down. Next time I get a chance I think I'm going to kill the glowing LED near the map lights to cut back on more light. I'd love it to be pitch black in the cabin.

My bad. I'm an engineer, this whole thing with words gets tough for me...

I have had a quality job done, so the heat rejection and UV protection should be solid. I guess at this point it's just a personal preference for appearance. Though, the darker interior and lower level of cabin light make the tint look darker too.

I'm not saying its legal to have tints but mine are %30 in the from and 20% in the back...that's almost nothing...i see people driving around with presidential all around....plus this was by the projects...I'm sure there are some crackheads and drug dealers they rather chase....I wasn't speeding or doing anything illegal.
there is your problem right there. you where in the ghetto... cops like to know that you are not riding around with a shotgun or ak on your lap. my friend had a new luxury car with dark tints on his car and he went to stockton (super ghetto, where you go when they kick you out of oakland) he was selling cutco knives, had a suit and tie on, everything and the cop still gave him a ticket for the dark tints. the whole reason is there are just too many gang bangers around here that tint the s*** out of their windows and pull drive by's and armed robberies. but seeing as how i live in a small white bread town that is totally understaffed when it comes to police, i really dont think i'll have a big problem and i plan on getting limo tint all around on my a/c. i had limo on my truck all the way around, drove it for about 4 years with not a single problem. it wasnt a non noticeable truck either, i ran a single chamber flowmaster with no pipes and a super high flow cat and also a knockin' a** system in the cab too. but all and all i figure if i get a "fix it ticket" i'll scrap the tint off, spend another 2 hundred every few months to keep the tint. im sorry, but black leather + 110 plus degree days = me disregarding the tint law

lol i like you, we all know police are jerk offs, i mean if they didnt have such a little man complex they would have chosen a career where they earned respect not one where they just hide behind a badge. i thought about being a cop for a long time. all of my uncles are cops. one of them happens to be head of the CHP. dont get me wrong, there are honest cops out there, but they are few and far between. everyone has their own agenda and cops are most certainly no exception. a wise man once told me, "never trust a cop or a whop..." i never invested much faith into that until was was totally hung out to dry after fully cooperating with the police. it is human nature to be deceitful and once a man gains power, it is only a matter of time before he stats continually abusing it. being a dill wad because someone asks you for your badge number would cause contempt in your average citizen. sometimes we all forget, police especially, that police officers are civil servants. they work for us, we pay their wages, we vote on their benefit increases, hell we even pay their retirement. on the other hand though, you need to realize that a police officer is a person too and you will catch more bees with honey than you will with vinegar. cops dont want you to treat them like you are brown nosing your middle management boss, they want to be treated as just as a person. show respect, but dont shove your nose up his a$$, also remember, a cop will either ticket you or lecture you. the longer you keep an officer talking, the less likely you are to get a ticket. so bottom line, be real with cops and they will be real with you. oh and remember not to make any sudden movements lol

Dude, just shut it and quit while you're ahead.

Most of the cops I know (even the little guys) are actually badasses, especially in a hand-to-hand combat situation.

Quit saying stupid stuff.

I'm guessing you either couldn't pass the written test or you couldn't pass the physical test.

Ah, there we go - NOW we're getting to the not-stupid stuff.

THAT was well-stated. Good advice.

Let's get back on topic.

assumptions are wonderful, if you live in candy land...but unfortunately i happen to live in the real world where assumptions either destroy your creditability or get you killed... really i do have imposing stature and i get called out on being a cop all of the time. you know nothing about my physical nor mental situation. i come from a long line of cops and doctors. it was a personal choice not to become a cop. i was accepted to the academy, but decided not to do it. it is wonderful pay (starting above 85k) but i just couldnt see myself policing people that dont care about themselves (i would have been assigned a less than desirable beat in the heart of down town oakland). if a whole culture is based around drugs and violence... what change is an outsider that would be viewed as, "the enemy" going to bring? little or none if you ask me. on the other hand, i could have been a small town cop in america's heart land, but i just couldnt live with myself doing something like that. the question i asked myself was, why would i want to cite and ticket honest, hard working citizens? unless you are a sheriff, you have quotas to fill, or you precinct will either be shut down or stripped to bare bones. i actually lived in a small town when i was younger and i know all too well of the antics small town police officers implement. the days of andy griffith and barney gumbal are dead and gone. police dont, "let boys be boys" anymore. instead they are now concerned about numbers and figures. actual criminals, career criminals, know what they are doing and how to avoid getting caught. in todays here and now, the average citizen gets to pay for an over fed police force. when is the last time you remember a gang task force actually making a significant bust? last time i heard talk about something like that was about 4 years ago when fresno announced they were cracking down on the infamous "fresno bulldog gang"(yes, they stole the mascot from the UC). what has happened since? the gang has grown to just about the strongest and most feared gang around. people are getting shot out of our state for wearing fresno state university bull dog apparel. hell, cops are getting shot just so these gang bangers can make a statement. is my life worth more than an undesirable from the lower casts' whim? you are damn right it is.

as for the misspelling of the racial slur i regrettably repeated, i am glad i misspelled the word. a word that holds so much hate and pain should never be permanently ingrained in my memory banks. i apologize for using the term in the first place, but it was simply a quote that has stuck with me. i believe the context of the quote applied to police officers and members of an organized crime unit. again, i apologize if i offended anyone, but you have to remember too, life isn't just cuddles and blow jobs and sometimes people are going to step on your toes, you just have to realize when people are truly hateful and when people are just trying to share insight that had been bestowed upon them.

i hold no grudges and i hope no one bares any resentment towards me for the insight i happened to share.

No better, just older.

Your words are all good, and probably far ahead of where mine were at 22.

Keep up the good work... I think there's something we can definitely agree on - There's no "candyland" anywhere anymore, unless you're a spoiled celebrity or a trust fund baby.

It's a knock-down world out there. Keep your head on a swivel and your hands outta your pockets.
