I love how not voting for this bill is being equated to hating 9/11 responders... like there could be no other reasons for not passing it right?
Jon, while well intentioned, is falling into the same trap the dems are, using emotions for political gain.
And as such, he has fallen from god of the journalistic/comedy world to a mere demi-god.

You mean other than the fact that we are giving special treatment to people who are just doing their job and have insurance for exactly this sort of thing?
That and the insane amount of money being prescribed are my two main gripes.

watch the videos with the first responders, and maybe you would change your tune. life is rarely as black and white as we'd like it to be.

Again, swayed by emotion.

You're gonna violate someone's DNR order someday and cost a hospital a ton of money. Former doctors aren't real hot commodities - keep your resume up to date..

Focus, dammit. I don't often agree with Scorchy, but he's 100% in the right on this one.

Hate to bump this but, I was just reading a couple year old article outlining the severe lack of government oversight involving the return of citizens of New York to businesses and homes following the attacks. Pressured by the wealthy land owners surrounding Ground Zero, Guliani and even the local EPA office ignored repeated warnings by the regional EPA and other agencies that the area surrounding the site was still extremely hazardous even after the city promised it was safe to return to homes and businesses.
Now, I know the bill passed, but how come the people that willingly risked their lives are being compensated over citizens who were heavily mislead by their own government. Thousands of people who were told it was safe to return to residences (And hence pay rent again) are suffering severe problems brought on by aerosols produced by the building debris. That, to me, is a greater reason to compensate someone for their time than people who were doing their jobs.
Just trying to spark more debate:P

'Cause the government is the one doing the compensating.
