Dafuq?

That's silly. They were an option, not part of a package.

But at the end of the day, does a 2 lb weight savings result in a significant time reduction in autocross?

When you spend five figures a year to compete nationally, you don't leave anything to protest. Won't do anything that can be remotely suspicious.

Maybe not. But it might be the first of 40 instances of legal 2-lb weight savings.

Much respect for competing at that level, but it sounds more and more like a bunch of anal bureaucratic pencil-pushing wankers taking all the fun out of what should be a good time at the track.

I can definitely see how, from the outside, it can look that way, and sometimes it is. The thing to note here though is that we're all spending thousands and thousands of dollars, traveling all over the country to locations that aren't exactly vacation spot worthy (Adel, Toledo, Lincoln, Wilmington, etc), all to throw down for 6 to 12 runs over the course of two days. There HAS to be an emphasis on legality to ensure a level playing field for all within a class. A lot of folks are like myself, in that the only reason we own our cars is for autocross, and if we're paying a note on a vehicle, the sport better darn we'll be kosher. We all go out and have fun and enjoy spending time with one another, but when push comes to shove, the main reason were blowing money that is college tuition level, and spending all of our vacation days on this sport is because we want to compete.
