I was in Florida. Don't know the Miata market here in Tejas.HashiriyaS14 wrote:
I forgot you are in Florida. I don't think it's so much that northeastern Miata prices are high as it is that Florida prices are super cheap. I don't doubt your $1500 deal for a minute, I've spent time on Florida craigslist and Miatas seem to grow on trees down there and are STUPID cheap.
DC prices seem to be in line with just about every other major metro area on either coast. Places way up north that aren't Miata country seem to be a bit higher still, and I assume because the cars are *really* scarce there.
I've thought a couple times about loading 6-8 of them on a car carrier and sending them up here for resale, actually.
How much is a hardtop down there? I smell profit.
I've seen hardtops go for $600 to $800. Of course, they last less than a day on CL, but still... $1000 seems to be the going price.
I've purchased or know someone who's purchased sub $2000 with good hardtops on them. At that point, you're looking at good profit if you could get them north.
I really, really put some thought into hauling cars up north. My only problem? Would be an empty trailer on the way back down. There's nothing automotively that is better up north.
