Greg and Bud aren't the mods for this section. You will seldom see them locking threads or posts in politics, as they (and other mods) leave that to me.

That said, I think you're a bigger douche than they do. They're the least of your problems. Worry about me.

If you get banned from NICO it will be because I asked for it to happen, period.

I find it hard to believe that people dont realize that these people's job is to entertain. They are in a entertainment form of media.

I personally enjoy listening to all of them as amidst the "BS" they hit on some good controversial topics that the "mainstream media" refuses to acknowledge.

More and more people are turning a blind eye to the behavior of the government. This is worse then any left or right wing "extremist"

He also said the female students from a Marin County private school who feed and provide services to the homeless "can go in and get raped by them because they seem to like the excitement of it..."
It sounds like you are watching CNN

Seriously though, those statements are usually taken out of context.

Beck's radio show used to be a lot of fun. He'd veer away from politics and his paranoid economics and talk about news and culture.

His TV show blows.

I agree, he is a great comedian but his tv show caters to what the public wants to see.

At least 98% of the time, quotes are taken out of context. One should always read before and after a selected quote to get an understanding of where the quote came from in the first place. This is a huge, huge problem in journalism and the battle for ratings/money. Mainstream journalism is barely acceptable journalism.

If anything were missing in this country these days, it is context. Nothing is taken into context anymore. Kinda sad really.
Where did you pull that 98% stat? The quotes were absolutely not taken out of context. Savage actually said that about the girls. "Commentators" like Savage are goddamn idiots.

As Mark Train put it: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

The quote refers to people who use of statistics to bolster weak arguments and to people who ridicule statistics that do not support their arguments.

98% was an exaggeration to mean a lot. But honestly, when was the last time (or how often have) you read a news article from the MSM that had full context of what was said?

The other problem we have today is that people take these quotes and take them way too literally. Yeah, he said something in a mean, offensive way perhaps, but did he really mean it or was it to send home a point (just as my use of 98%).

I would actually agree that autism is for the most part, non-existent. It is one of the most over diagnosed disorders in children. I see it as an easier way for a doctor to tell parents that your son/daughter has some sort of mental retardation because saying a child has autism is a very generalized statement. I know of a kid whose mother, when (not knowingly) pregnant was sanding cabinets with lead paint and that lead dust got into her system. Her kid has now been diagnosed by multiple doctors as autistic, yet she is like 8 or 9 and still can't use a toilet or barely speak. But truth of the matter is, the kid had lead poisoning and treatment for lead poisoning, when it gets to the brain, is irreversible and can't be removed like it can from the rest of the body.

These clips are wonderful for showing the lack of credibility and the idiot that is "Glenn Beck."

Funny stuff by the comedians but the fact that people take Beck seriously is scary.

There is some real funny stuff out there.

He has lost quite a few sponsors over his racist reference to President Obama.

I also heard one report that Fox suspended him for it but I cannot find written confirmation of that.

Some interesting comments as well.

"Yes, I live here. I have to say that part of this ignorance is based on the fact that a whole heck of a lot of people watch Fox NotNews. It's in the lower tier channels that are included in basic service. If you want to watch MSNBC, you gotta pay for the premium channels and — in case you haven't noticed — the job situation here sucks. So, no extra money for real news. Hey, you didn't really think that the corporate heads wanted an educated populace did you?"

Consider the FNC ratings include sensasionalists on the air and pretty much the only tv place for right wing extremists to see people who will cater to them and it easily explains the numbers. The number of viewers pales in comparison to the total number of people in the country, and since people who are passionate (emotional) about something tend to make up the loyal body of fans of anything, you can't really make a direct inference from those numbers.

FNC and its on-air people love to tout that every other media outlet leans toward the liberal side of the spectrum. If you believe that, then all the other outlets are spreading their passionate enthusiasts around, bleeding numbers away from each other on the cable ratings. Add in the network tv news and FNC is nowhere close to being where the majority of Americans are, and the ratings you cite contain zero information as to the truthfulness or journalistic integrity (or lack therof) provided by any of those stations.

Yep, Fox has zero integrity and MSNBC, CNN, etc are the high water mark of journalistic integrity (behind the NYTimes of course).

Got it....Now I'll go back to watching WWF

Try reading it again, maybe this time with an open mind. I said

"...the ratings you cite contain zero information as to the truthfulness or journalistic integrity (or lack therof) provided by any of those stations."

I made absolutely no statement that one is any better than the other; I only attempted to explain the numbers based on FNC's own indications that there are so many liberal outlets and no other conservative ones. Their own logic dictates that other networks share a viewer base while FNC doesn't.
