my gf is dead set on getting some tenzo DC6 wheels for her 96 240. she has asked me to look for the right size and offset but i have only seen them offered in 17x7 +42 or +45 which is a horrible offset for the 240. i have also seen them in 18x8 18x8.5 18x9.5 and i don't remember the offsets but they were not that good either. she has lower the car with eibach prokit so about 1" drop and she is not an aggressive driver so i figured 18s would be fine on her car for a DD. my queston(s) is what is the right offset for 18x8 or 8.5 and 18x9.5 or is there another company that make a wheel that look very similar to the DC6 in 17" with better offsets, it HAS to have the red line on it. thanks in advance

FYI Chubs, they do carry them with a lower offset...

(click on the option to view pricing. it shows what offset they offer)http://www.tenzoracingsports.c....html

If I were you, I'd get 18x9.5 + 15's all around. You dont need a staggard setup.

If you look at the price list for those wheels, they do not offer the 18x9.5 in the black/red wheel for 5 lug. This is why I'm having trouble finding 18's with the right offset.

So if anyone know's of a company that sells similar looking wheels with a good size and offset please let me know.

are you getting tenzos because of the cost?

because if not, that wheel is just a copy of gram lights 57max in the time attack finish, those will run you around $1,200-$1,300 a set

I believe I could find something better to spend $1200 on besides wheels. Thanks though...

Apparently not then...but if I had $4k it wouldn't be going towards anything for a car.

But thanks anyhow...

Now back to the orignal question...looking for wheels....

Interested in the Tenzo DC6 black w/ red lip, perferablly 18x9.5, only problem is Tenzo doesn't carry them in a suitable offset in black/red.

So can someone PLEASE tell where I can find similar looking wheels at the same cost or cheaper then Tenzo

would you prefer the exact style or just the color scheme

like i already mentioned, the tenzos are volk knock offs, so if its the spoke pattern and shape you want you can get those for around twice the cost, or i think sportmax or soembody makes a wheel in that color scheme if thats your main concern

Just an FYI, the color scheme name is called "time attack". You'll mostly find them in the Volk/ Rays (ie 57's, te-37's, ce's etc.).

Gramlight 57 max is what you're looking for. and they come in more offsets and sizes than anyone will ever use.

Just checked the site and found these offset offered for the 18's: 18X8 +9, 25, 35 in the black/red. Is your gf car 5 lug or 4 lug. They dont offer the 18X9.5 in 5 lug or black/red. If you go with these rims you can get away with 18X8 +25 up front with a 245/40 tire and 18X8 +9 in the rear with a 265/40 tire as well. These should fill up the massive wheel wells on the S14.

i already said that but she only wants to pay ~$600 for a set of wheels

cant get much for that, especially in the sizes shes talking

the other thing is you realize how much money youll be spending on tires with wheels that size? that size rubber aint cheap

I stand corrected. I meant 255/35 on a 8. I forgot they were 8's in the rear. I was thinking 9's for some weird reason. With the 255's it would look almost bubbled. I skimmed through the previous post and didn't see that she doesn't want to spend more than $600 so I agree with you for not going with 18's. Actually Federal tires are pretty cheap for 18 inch tires but will not fit her budget. Best bet is to go with 17's for the price but selection will be limited for offsets.

twisted is the person that has the car and wants the wheels. i am the bf i have wheels on mine. just wanted to clear that up.

now she does want the TA style and she would like to go with either 17s or 18s. she is VERY picky about the number of spokes, i have asked about numerous 5 spokes and i always get a no. of all the wheels i have asked about it seams like 6, 7 and 8 spokes are what she wants. i suggested 18 cause she only has a 1" drop and would still have a lot of gap with 17s. she has been on this forum for a while and has seen many people on here that have the +38 or +42 offset and all the people rip in them about the crap offsets and that they could have done better and she is trying to do better.

if she cant find the wheels she wants in the right color but finds the size and offset then i would pay to have them powdercoated to a TA style.

this is he first car that she is "tuning" and she doesn't really know a lot about it but she is always asking questions and trying to learn as much as she can.

i have looked (not very hard) and i found rota has some TA style wheel and I'm sure that there are more i just haven't looked that hard

I think girls are picky at everything. You can run 17's but pick like a 40 or 45 series tire to fill up the gap and possibly use spacers if you cant get the offsets you want.

just an FYI, don't chose a wheel size thinking that you're gonna change the gap between the fender and tires. The tire size compensates for the wheel size. Its not like your gonna run the same sidewall on an 18" like you would on some 15's.

You want a lower profile? Get some coilovers or cut your springs, LOL

I only want to pay that much because I'm not rolling around in money. I want wheels that look nice and work for the car without having to spend an @$$ load of money. I know if I go with 18's I'll be spending more on the tire.

I'm picky about the way the wheel looks, because I do not want to buy the wheel that has the TA look and then not like it. I would rather get what I like the first time. I like the 5 spoke only if the spokes are wide enough, I don't like a lot of spokes because it looks chaotic to me.

CUT THE SPRINGS? are you serious? it not a honda, mustang or a truck! why would you buy lowering springs and then cut them?

you did notice that she has said many times that she is not rolling in money and you suggest coils?

I'm fully aware of how the tired changes the gap and not the wheels size. I'm not 17 and I'm not new at this whole thing so i know whats up with tire and wheels and more.

not trying to be a **** but i have not been impressed with the "wheel moderators" comments about WHEELS

I never mentioned lowering springs. And other than the wheel offsets you first wanted, wtf do hondas have to do with cutting springs?

I also mentioned cutting your springs. cutting springs are free (it was a joke though... I guess some people are pretty stiff with their humor)

then why did you say..

in other w3rdz: 18's would have less of a gap than the 17's??

or did I read that incorrectly?

If she doesn't want to cough up money for a good set of wheels and get stuck with a high offset, buy the damn wheels and slap some spacers on. Done and done.

Referring to height and gap of your car:

If you get the 18's it will decrease the fender gap, but it will also lift the car...making that 1" dropped 240 look like stock again. Not to mention the extra $$ you're gonna hav to drop.

As for having flush wheels, you're gonna have to do a little math if you don't want to memorize specific wheel widths and offsets.

An S13 has a distance of ~71mm from the hub to an imaginary line from the edge of fender to the ground (we'll call this i-line). Find out what that distance is on the S14 and find a set of rims that is closest to your hub to i-line distance.

Here's how you measure it on a set of rims:

[(rim width in inches)/2 *25.4] - (offset in mm) <--this will be in mm

Sorry for the lack of proper terminology but it still works.
