oscillating idle, check the MAFS, IACV, and vacuum first.

With the MAFS, make sure it's clean, and the contacts are good, the wiring is good, ie check the voltages through the wires.

IACV, make sure it works and the valve is working and clean.

Vac - make sure you've got vac with a gauge. If you see the vac drop or is too low, use carb cleaner to see where your leak is.

If the idle isn't oscillating, then you might want to wait till it's warm, with the TPS plug pulled and the base idle set to ~700-800 rpm and then check the timing eh?

report back with whatcha get.

plug a timeing light into cylinder # 1 and shine it at the crank pulley, there are marks on it, I believe the timeing should be 20 degrees off TDC

Can you plug the sensor onto the wires going to the coilpack and have it work properly? i wondered that today after looking at my motor on the engine stand.

what I did was stick an old spark plug wire on the end of my coil pack, and timed it that way
