Im 15 years old and i love drifting, im saving up for a 240 because i really want to learn how. I just have a question. The RB20DET is six cylinder right? and would it have to be bored before you could put in a turbo? Because thats what my friend told me but i dont see why when the T stands for turbo charged. and same for the SR.. would it have to be bored? Now bare with me here because i know very little about 240's and Nissans in general, but your help would be awesome.

Yes the rb20det is turbo no you do not have to bore it at all and yes it is a inline 6 motor

If you are talking about the 240sx it would be the KA24E most of the time. That is the single over head cam motor. Then the other motor is the KA24DE duel over head cam

Yes it should as long as you get it from a good company just make sure you find a set up that comes with the ecu wiring harness and the igniter chip all with it.That makes it so much faster and easier to get things done.

Well I will tell you that SR parts are alot easier to get than RB you can still get them but they do tend to cost more. Also I dont know if you already know this but there are several types of SR20DET their is the S13 red top and the black top then the s14 that comes with VVT then the s15 that unless you have lots of money and time I would not suggest on.Also if you can if you are going to do the swap your self try and get a s14 240sx their would be less stuff for you to get.The only thing that you would need is a MAF off of a s13 ka24e.

The s13 black top is the newer one than the red and it has about 15 more hp.There was a few changes made between the red and black top.

Well I know of a way that they can but its a pain lol and as far as I was told is that in CA you can not even do swaps because the motor have to match the vin and has to have all stock emissions equipment on it so I am not sure about that sorry

Nope THERE IS NO NEED to BORE a motor to make it turbo charged.

I know there is a few KA-T kits out there that will give it a little more uph. but i still doubt you'll meet smog standards. if i were you. GET a STOCK or lightly modded 240sx. learn to drive it and see if you even like it first. then see how much money you have and how much you want to spend on a 15 year old car.

just search around. and don't believe everything you hear. you've probly heard you need a turbo to drift too right?

Yep he is right you would not have to bore it.The only thing that I would suggest to you if you would turbo a ka and this is just so you would not take the chance of something bad happening if the motor has lots of miles on it or has been beaten is to put new rings, bearing, and at least a cometic head gasket in it.
