You are three steps ahead of most kids your age when it comes to your car. Thats becuse 1. you know not to bielve everything you hear; 2. you are doing research; 3. you seem to realize that cars cost money and you need to workout a budget.

Don't give up on doing your own engine swap or other work. Now is a good time to learn the right way to work on cars and it will give you a lifetime of frustration and enjoyment. And save you money on repairs down the road. Also consider that there is a shortage of Auto mechs right now and you can take a couple of years comunity colledge or tech school and be making good money when you are done.

You really shouldn't count out a KA engine. They are unbeatable is made right and treated with care. A KA will output more HP than a SR built relatively similar and with more torque. Im just rebuilding my KA right now with forged internals and 10:1 pistons for a hig compression KA that in the end should make the same numbers as a stock SR if not more. The KA engines are awesome! Dont forget it! not that SR and RB's arn't any good.

Vegascorbin you're right, i've taken an auto class, and im going to take auto 2 after i buy my 240 so i can work on it in class, the thing is i just dont have a lot of time to do engine work plus i wouldnt have anything to drive for a while.or else i would love to. i have done a couple of top and bottom end rebuilds so i know a little about an engine. Ive thought about going into that field, but im not quite sure yet.

and Space Monkey, i am going to go with the KA, i dont want to over do myself with too much power starting off and i dont want to have to deal with California Smog standards and what not. Im going to try and find a stock s13 240 and just tune it myself. probably keep the engine stock for a while, maybe a new intake or something.
