This is a topic to see just how much interest there would be in the replacement of the OEM Grille, mustache and all, in favor of a clean urethane surround with mesh design. I know there has been a lot of talk about who or when someone will jump in a make a clean grille for the car. Especially those who don't plan to go with a full bumper replacement or want to go the route of a lip and can't stand the mustache. I was going over with Josh from Stillen on getting some support from the Altima Coupe community. We all know Stillen has been here for us and their designs have been very clean. So let's hear it, who would like to see this happen?

It would look very similar to this

Please be constructive if you have any opinions.

i'm down for either just the complete mesh, or the urethane surrounded mesh as well, in all honesty, anything that will get rid of the honeycomb and the hamburger would look nice, except for the billet grill, i never liked em.

something like this would look hot as well:

got that from the sedan forums:http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/321986

yeah... something that gets rid of the mustache and honeycomb would be great. Either a mesh, or something like Stillen's front fascia would be nice...

boy i hope Kyle kicks his R&D guys in the pants n gets them in gear... last time this was addressed (old forum, search impossible) i think he said it wasnt worth it for them to make for xyz reason... And it would require the bumper to be removed... the one thing i wasnt happy with when i got the car... the grill that matches not one part on the car!

I would definately buy a grille replacement asap. I would personally love something very, very similar to the grille on Stillen's Fascia. Hopefully when the grille is released,I will buy Stillen's front bumper, and splitters if they will fit Stillen's front bumper ( all at the same time). I hope this is produced very very soon.

I would buy it if it doesn't have that little dip in the middle at the bottom (near the mustache). I want black mesh with flat going across the bottom.

But I'm with you and everyone else here, goodbye mustache goodbye honeycomb.

On the sedan its really simple. Pop off a few clips from the top and pull with some force and it pops out. I don't see how it can be different from the coupe.

It's not like no one has made a replacement OEM grille. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to search out the forum that had a picture posted of the bumper and grille assembly. Like Adidas said, the support has been very strong. Even if for some odd reason this topic burns out, all anyone has to do is search through the old Exterior mods forum to see all the topic posted on altering or replacing this nasty OEM grille. Trust me, I'm so eager to get rid of my grille I almost bought a billet grille. Was going to powder coat the thing black but I still wouldn't have been 100% happy with the result. If this doesn't happen, it'll probably be the final push towards me picking up the full front fascia. Either way, it's still a win/win situation. Just having second thoughts about having an aftermarket front bumper on the car in a winter state.

Thanks for taking the time to cast your vote everyone. I hope you all want to see this happen as much as I do..... 24 "yes" votes in less than 24 hours, nice reaction timing.

Jose, It's all integrated in one piece, the bumper and the grill. When I took my bumper off I didn't look closely to see how/if you can take out the grill, but I've seen posts of coupes where the dealership has replaced the grill, so it's possible. Of course there's always the hacksaw method like Wind stated.

The key is making sure the replacement also gets rid of the chrome mustache.

Instead of a want, getting a new grille is almost a need for me. And I would love for it to be a Stillen grille.

I haven't read a post or a comment from anyone about them liking the stock grille. It's an eye sore and in my opinion makes the car look cheap.

GOD yes please soon hurry!

haha the one thing I hate about my coupe is that stupid looking chrome mustache! I know we've all complained about it so much. for me anything paintable without the chrome and without the nissan hamburger in the middle is a keeper! Ive seen the ones that are out now and to me they just dont flow. not sporty at all. Keep us posted!

Dude seriously...if the sh*t you buy requires a hacksaw to make fit...you need to buy from somewhere else.

Robert, thanks for taking the time in putting up this post, and thank you all for your responses. I'll be taking this information into the next new products meeting that we have, and see if I can get an official word on the possibility of production, timing, etc.

Please keep the ideas/requests/votes coming, more fuel I can use to request R&D time..

Thanks!

I was looking at my grille today and I notices slight gaps on the right and left side and from what I can see the honeycomb is completely removable and no I didn't take it off but the real problem seems to be the chrome mustache

the grill, the emblem and the mustaches can be removed. They are clipped onto the grill. PITA to remove w/o breaking the clips but they can be removed.

I think a whole Nissan GT-R Front would looked great on the A/C. :p

Or similar at least.

Yea, I'm always on the move to get rid of the honeycomb grille. I want something sexy, nothing that stands out like Aftermarket Chrome. The forged lines on the G35/37 looks amazing to the Chrome mesh and lines. Something sexy like a ASton Martin's forged grill that pops up and has more dimension that flatness.

I wish I was awesome at photoshop to really try it. I just imaging it to be really nice.

:p

I was think something like this for the mesh. The aluminium is kind of cheap looking but at this point I'd settle for one. Just trying to point out how the top one pops out and the other is a little flat. But if the grille is done right and has enclosure and over all look, I'll buy it.

This

Not this

I really wish we could have the grille off Stillen's fascia, or atleast if they could produce something close. Maybe even better since all we are getting is the grille, and not the whole entire fascia. Just a thought, since they already have the design made.

I think once, if Stillen approves the development of the grille, we should start a seperate post to see what everyone wants out of it. Personally the grille on the Fascia should stay there. The Stillen bumper has other splitters that compliment the theme they have going. On the OEM bumper I think it would look weird and out of place.

I'm down for just black mesh - full replacement only and if we could get rid of that chrome stache it'd be great!

I agree. I personally am not in love with the stillen grille and wouldn't buy it as a standalone piece for the very reason above. It does go well with the rest of the stillen bumper though.
