if you put it into perspective gas really isn't that expensive even @ 3.50ish a gallon. figure out how much it costs to buy a gallons worth of bottled water.btw there is 128oz in a gallon

That's true, but I dont consume 4 gallons of bottled water a day. If so, I'd ***** about that too. Especially if 8 years prior, I had been paying 59 cents a gallon for it.

Edit:I just put $45.10 worth of gas in my car. I got it at Wawa in chester, va, and it was $3.39 for premium. 1 mile down the road, and it was as high as $3.89.

One store said, $3.29, 3.39, 4.49... but i think it was a typo.

If I had to fill my car with water, it sure wouldnt Aquafina. It'd come from a hose or a lake.

I had to get gas on the way to work this morning. 87 octane was $2.99, 89 was $3.07, and 93 was $3.15...

...They were out of 87 and 93 octane

Are you trying to say bottled water is more expensive? Maybe if you get Evian or Fiji... but the typical filtered drinking water costs about $0.50 per gallon, even cheaper if you use those machines that dispense it.

well I just paid 1.29 for a bottle of water @ BP if you calculate that out its over $8 per gallon. If I bought water for the same price as gas is right now a 20oz would only be $.40.

I'm not trying to start a argument but its something to think about.

Paying $3ish dollars per gallon of something that is slowly running out and can't be replenished compared to paying more than 3 times that for something that is entirely renewable and recyclable. Plus the earth is 70 percent covered in it.

Maybe we should all move to Venezuela

Bottled water bought by the 20oz bottle is way more expensive than gas, but go to wal-mart and price distilled water by the gallon (which is how gas is priced, so that would make for a much more fair comparison) and you'll see that it is actually much cheaper than gas.

ALSO, just because bottled water is more expensive than gas doesn't mean gas isn't overpriced. It just means that bottled water is that much more overpriced than the overpriced gas.

If Water is the same as gas then my load of laundry just cost me $89.60... **** my showers must cost me like $300 or so! At LEAST!

When they start selling gas in 20oz bottles then lets compare.

I don't care what they charge. Maby the buss system will finely become useful in Oregon. I mean we pay out millions to keep that POS system alive.

You just all need to use diesel. My co worker makes his own for about .66c a gal and he goes over 700miles on one tank...

They had plastic bags over all the 87 and 93 octane nozzles. Everybody had to use the 89 octane.

I saw a guy pull the bag off a 87 nozzle and try it, but he put it back and used the mid grade. I didnt think to try to others, but I'm glad someone did.

I waited in line for 20 minutes last night to buy 87 octane at $2.93. This was across the street from the place I mentioned above, and they were charging $3.49 for 87 cotane.

Today on the news they mentioned 9 of the 11 refineries in the Gulf will be operational allowing the gas prices to drop within the next week.

it is 2.89 for regular most places in Alabama lately.

One last thing, i am looking to get myself a 1995 240SX Se, if driven "responsibly" they get good gas mileage correct? I would plan on modifying it of course but the main reason on getting one outside of it being a nice looking and easily modifiable car is that they get better gas mileage. I guess anything is better than an Explorer....

I paid $2.99 for regular at Dulles Airport last night.

I expect to see the same sort of price spread bryanmenard just mentioned around here within a week or so, if not a hair lower...

Oil Prices took a $5/bbl dive yesterday, w00t. Probably some profit taking from investors who saw Katrina as a nice windfall, sick as that may seem to people who don't look at the world as nothing more than an intertwined network of prices.

The refineries down in Louisiana and Texas are running full steam ahead as supplies allow. Most of the offshore rigs are pumping again.

Refineries actually damaged by the Hurricane were Murphy Oil in Mareux, LA and Chalmette Refining (ExxonMobil/Venezuelan Government joint venture) in Chalmette, and BP in Belle Chasse.

Everything else is ready to go as soon as power gets up and as soon as crude starts flowing in.

ExxonMobil's 500,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Baton Rogue (2nd largest in America) is running at 1/4 capacity due to crude shortages. These refineries reduce output to avoid shutdowns in case they run out of crude. Starting these things back up takes days.
