ok if you put your engine at DTC of the compression stroke, your distributer at #1 and have your cams in this possition:it won't matter where the chain marks are. that should fix your timming issue
If im not mistaken these cams are supposed to be switched lol orange/yellow for exhaust and green for intake however you could do that one cam mod but thats normally with 2 exhaust cams

good call. i just looked at my freshly rebuilt head and you are correct. thats probably what he meant when he said he found out the cams were in the wrong position.

Well, I was able to start my car last night. My distributor was off by about 2 teeth. now that I have the new timing chain in there, my car sounds great. I figured that it didnt start the last time because it was flooded........................................................................... Now I have to time it...

all in all, at least its on!

correct me if im wrong but.. it doesn't really matter which side its on, just as long as the lobes are in the right possition, i mean yeah if the lobe on one side has a larger angle maybe or if its a front wheel drive car.i just don't see why it would matter

remove that upper guide, its useless. theres plenty of threads on this.

im more worried about the rust forming on the bolts and the guide. thats just wrong

My timing chain guard was in pieces...

I guess some of it melted off

I also had a small piece missing. I have no idea where that went, but in looking for it I ended up changing my timing chain because the chain tensioner guards (plastic and metal things) cracked...

Haha one and a half years later... I started working again and I bought a newer motor with manual parts ( pressure plate, clutch, and fly wheel) for only 150. So I did a manual swap I couldn't do it in my back yard so I had a shop do it. 1.8k later and I now have my car back. Finnnalllyy!

Next up is rust removeal, coilovs, and wheels.
