I notice the talk has died down quite a bit. I wonder why???It's obvious to anyone that doesn't live under a rock. The 335 coupe has been an UNBELIEVABLE SUCCESS for BMW. For practically the entire first year, you could only order them and they were selling for close to MSRP, 9 months, 12 months later. Now, 2008 are starting off just as hot.

Meanwhile, the G37, while having a pretty decent start as any NEW car would, has died off. The buzz about the g37 is about dead and you just don't hear about them much anymore, vs the 335 which has been out much longer and still the car everyone talks about. Dealers have G37's on their lots and they are starting to discount them already. It's very obvious that the sales aren't coming close to meeting expectations, and it's only going to get worse. That is a fact.

Back when I was shopping for a new car and considering both, I was kicked off one site and hated on this one for having chose the 335 (9500 trouble free miles so far) . I stated all the indisputable facts, and got into some heated debates that always ended up with the 335 being the better car, but the G37 being the better value. Well, all the points I argued are now known to be correct and universally accepted . If you look at any G37 forum, over 50% of current G owners (in many cases, much higher), do NOT like the look of the G37 vs the G35.Now go to BMW sites and you can look for days and won't find 1 person that criticizes the look of the 335 vs older 3's.

I just find it funny thinking back and how much you guys fought me on all the issues and details between the 2 cars. I have to give you guys credit though. Even when presented with all the FACTS and EVIDENCE in the world, you guys wouldn't bow down to the 335.

certainly a nice looking car, but if you follow the BMW forums, the fuel pump of the DI engines is continuing to be a big problem.

Even replacement pumps are failing, which translates into they are still using the same defective pump as a replacement and they haven't come up with a solution yet.

If I had spent $45K on a car that had these types of problems out of the box, I'd be looking for the exit door--which a lot of 335i may end up doing because of the lemon laws in many states.

I've recently gone through the same process of evaluating both cars--E92 vs. G37--and decided on the E90 std. sedan, just because it fit our needs best. You get 90+% of the coupes handling dynamics, a reasonably quick car and don't get into fuel pump issue inherent with the 335i. The E90 is a sweet package but only represents good value if you layoff the options.

IMHO, the G37 has a lot of value for the $ and based on reports regarding the fuel pump, is way ahead of the 335i in terms of reliability.

This guy really has issues and needs a life. You certainly won't catch me over on Bimmerfest saying, "see I bought a G37 and I love it!"

There are other forums he needs to be on and they're not car forums.

You have your preferences and that's fine. I strongly prefer the look of the G over the 335 coupe.

I"m not a trained BMW tech and I've never opened up the motor. I don't know if it's a design flaw in the block, or something pretty simple, but the problem is there. And the oil cooler is only a bandaid.

Don't let anyone try to convince you that it's normal just because it's a direct injection car, or that it was designed this way. That is TOTAL BS.Many 335's WITH oil coolers have gone into limp mode. True, most of them were at the track, but that shouldn't matter. How NAIVE we would be if we were to be stupid enough to say, WELL, THE BMW WASN"T MADE TO BE RACED, IT"S A MASS PRODUCED STREET CAR . Well, in all the years of owning cars and reading automotive magazines, I've never heard of a car doing this. It's a MAJOR DESIGN FLAW.Luckily, I have tens of thousands of miles of warranty left, so I have time to decide what to do with the car. In the mean time, I will enjoy it, but I'll be looking for answers along the way. And I'm sure, in the next few years as these cars get up in mileage and start tearing up, the flaw will be exposed and then I will be able to decide whether to keep her or sell it. Otherwise, LOVE THE CAR!!! It's a shame that one dark cloud is hanging over it.No regrets picking it over the G37 since the G had it's own problems (major OIL BURNING issues which required rebuild or new long block on random 2003-2006 models), not to mention suspensions that eat up front tires ( in less than 10k, tires are scalloped so bad it sounds like you are driving a school bus from the roar and vibration), poor fuel economy and low driving position.Last edited by joeygott : Today at 01:20 AM.Reply With Quote

Somethings must have changed since Joey's post on 10/25; replaced long blocks? Scalloped tires?Say what??

YES, same guy dumbazz.Where in my statements do I mention that I"VE experienced any of these problems? It's because I haven't, but I am acknowleging that the 335 has the potential for going into limp mode due to high oil temperature. I also mentioned the well documented problems with the G coupes. It wouldn't suprise me if you know nothing about those problems or are not honest enough to admit them. Either way, I'll post TONS of PROOF and make you look the fool. You think I have some alterior motive to be HONEST enough to state that the 335 isn't perfect either? I've said it's superior, not perfect.I said I've had 9000 TROUBLE FREE MILES, I never said my car was flawless or perfect. As a matter of fact, I clearly wrote that I fully expect the 335 to be less reliable than the 328/330 (which according to most industry experts, is equally reliable to the G35).

Didn't Motor Trend over heat their 335 just playing tag with a G37 in traffic on a 75 degree day?

But hey it is a BMW so I guess we should all be impressed by a d!ck with more money than brains.

http://www.motortrend.com/road...w_335

"At the end of a couple enervating loops in both cars, we're surprised by three things: the fact that neither car could run away from the other, that neither demonstrates a clear edge in handling, and-yikes!-the BMW's oil temperature is near the peg at 280 F-40 degrees shy of system shutdown. This isn't a hot racetrack; it's a cool, 75-degree misty morning. Munich: We have a problem. This type of running, lots of low-speed-corner exits with both turbos spooling cooks the oil cooling those turbo bearings, and our car has no oil cooler. BMW installed them only on manual Sport models until March, when automatics with the Sport package started getting them. There is no recall or factory-sponsored retrofit, but enthusiast owners should consider installing an oil cooler."

The only DIK HEAD is the guy that disregards the 9 out of 10 reviews that the 335 won and only brings up the 1 that the 335 lost (due to early production model with no oil cooler- all have since been retrofitted and all production models include them since March).INFINITI and MOTORTREND came out the loser, MORON, not BMW. Just look at the sales of the 335 vs the G37. BMW can't even keep them in stock over a year later. G37 inventory all ready building up on lots.INFINITI couldn't win a fair fight so they PURPOSELY bring the early production model that they NEW would go into limp mode due to oil temps. ANd MOTORTREND was stupid enough to let INFINITI bring the competition. Like any respectable magazine would allow that.MOTORTREND lost some serious stock and have been heavily criticized by many industry wide experts for that stunt. It's so funny that you G37 owners are so pissed about your cars LACK of support with your own INFINITI crowd, and then getting your butt kicked regularly by the 335, that you guys are just sick of being pooped on so you are on the attack for the littlest thing. And it's HILARIOUS that you guys keep holding on to the Motortrend article as your one victory, TAINTED victory I might add.

You are an IDIOT if you think that was MOTORTREND's and INFINITI's intentions. Not even the most DEVOUT Infiniti follower would go along with that nonsense. There sole purpose was to WIN the comparo, which they did. Lucky for them, they found an early model car that they knew would go into limp mode at the track. INFINITI KNEW it couldn't beat the 335 on a level playing field, so it found a flaw and used it to their advantage. SMART guys, but little did those guys know that many of us are one step ahead. It was WEAK and dishonest for them to do that and their reputation has been tarnished for it. IF MOTORTREND and INFINITI was being honest, they would have said, THE MODEL WE RECEIVED WAS AN EARLY MODEL WITH AN OIL OVERHEAT PROBLEM. It went into LIMP MODE and therefore we were not able to do a fair comparison so we went out and got a current model to complete the test. LET THIS BE A WARNING TO THOSE THAT BOUGHT EARLY MODELS. You need to be looking out for this and get with BMW to get it fixed. But NO, instead, MOTORTREND just calls the comparo and awards the victory to the G37. LAME I tell you.Well, the 335 won in the next 9 head to head tests so 9 out of 10 isn't bad. You guys are so freaking DESPERATE after the G37 getting it's but whooped repeatedly by the 335 and the fact that your own INFINITI G followers haven't been as accepting of the car.

INCORRECT.If you look at my postings on the BMW site, they are 98% positive. The last post was in response to some BLIND LOYALIST who were answering a question posted on the forum.." I"M THINKING ABOUT BUYING A 335 AND WAS WONDERING IF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED AND WHETHER I SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS ISSUE (oil temp/limp mode).Just because of their love for BMW, they are telling everyone they have NOTHING to worry about when it comes to the oil temp/limp mode problem and it's been 100% solved and it's not an issue. Well, c'mon, they don't know that! They are just talking out their AZZ, much the same way some of the LOYAL INFINITI people do. Look, it's human nature. Sometimes, politicians can screw up so bad yet their supporters will still BLINDLY support them to their death bed. You should appreciate the fact that I look at things SUBJECTIVELY and not on impulse or emotion. I ran into this same problem back when I was considering a used 2006 G35. MANY G owners on the forums had complained about oil burning and motors burning up due to no oil, tires scalloping and making tons of noise before even hitting 10k miles, brake issues, etc. These are well documented problems that only IGNORANT people will deny, ditto for the 335 issues.

So, I was defending those that were concerned about it and telling them that I believe it's something that people should be concerned about, and that those other guys piping in had NOTHING to support their position.

I was being HONEST, Mranderson. Not a tantrum, not trying to have it both ways. YOu should be thankful that at least some of us out there are subjective and aren't afraid to admit fault with both the G and the 335.

I bought the 335 knowing about this RARE, but well documented issue. After owning a g35 for a short time and then almost buying a g37 and doings TONS of research at the infiniti dealer and infiniti consumer affairs, as well as all the forums, I came to the conclusion that both cars had some random issues and I moved on to other factors to determine which car I wanted.Anybody that can find fault in that reasoning is ignorant.

Hard to argue with a crazy person

But I don't think he needs to be banned hes kind of cute. I've never seen anyone go to the forum of competing brand and look for a fight, except for me on the IS350 forum.

So Joey what is it your looking for??? Do you have a BMW 335 over heating machine? Do you want a race with a G37?

nahhh. Not looking for anything actually. I started the thread by making some comments, no questions. Since then , just addressing the bogus comments and trying to correct the facts and stay subjective.Yesterday, with my 5yr old daughter in the car, I made a quick passing move on a 300z twin turbo and Lexus SC 400. Well, they both thought I would race but I couldn't with my daughter in the car. The guy with the 300z pulled up next to me and said, MAN, BEAUTIFUL CAR, is that the twin turbo? I said yes, so then he says, OH, forgive me, not looking for a race and all the while he is making the bowing motion as if to bow to my car.You gotta love that.Amazing how many stupid cars tried to rice me. Had a few with G35's, weren't real close, and I haven't even had my ECU flashed yet. When I do that, it's an automatic 50hp and 75lbs of torque, and no parts involved.

None of the 335's have any kind of overheating problem, it's turbo oil getting hot, and VERY FEW of the cars with oil coolers are having that problem. There has only been a few and those are track cars, none of the street cars have it. Mine came standard with the oil cooler and I've ran the pizz out of it and haven't come within 50 degrees of the limp mode temp. It's just not an issue on 98% of the cars.

Joey, I like your dedication, and you are obviously a smart guy, so let me enlighten you on a few points. People buy a car because they personally like the car, not to enter it into a contest, or make sure other people like it, or to try and out-perform some other car. I personally like the G37 quite a lot, better than the G35, so that puts me in the sub-40% category, but that doesnt matter to me. I am 5'9, so the head-room issue is not a problem. I live and work in downtown Dallas, so the minute difference in fuel economy is not a problem. My ipod plugs right in and has a great interface that works perfectly. I was in the market for either the Cayman, the 335, or the g37, all great cars in my opinion...the Cayman obviously being the least practical. I chose the G37 because I personally like it and Sewell sells them which means I get free oil changes, car washes, road-side service and so on. If the only personal victories you find are those related to the car you purchased with respect to people who purchased a different car, and further reduced by existing in the limited world of an internet forum, then self-evaluate. I like my car...a lot, I am not lying to myself either, I get in it everyday. I have friends with every car you can imagine (even a handful of exotics), we all like our cars.

These places are intended to be constructive, you shouldnt find personal victory in trash talking on the internet...it just makes you sort of pathetic. Find victory in your daughter, your job, being a good husband, your investment portfolio, an intramural sport, if you like your victories in the form of car performance, that is fine...but find them on the track. Trying to make me feel stupid for not buying the same car as you is a fruitless and hopeless task. Furthermore, if I paid $8k more for a car, I would expect some elements of superiority, thats the way spending money usually works. Your arguments about car sales are sort of moot points considering the market history of the two companies...Im not going to get into it, but you are smart enough to understand what I am getting at without further discussion.

So Joey...I am glad you like your car. Now go be a good daddy and get off the internet so you can drive that undoubtedly awesome daughter of yours around in it. Best of luck sir. Jabain

I just don't understand why you are here... I read through all your posts. The only real reason I can see you here is get a rise out of people and "gloat"

So with that said, if you don't have anything to contribute other then headaches for people who are here... just go away

Enjoy your car, stick to the BMW boards out there and have a nice day!

SWEET,

I'm looking for a local IS350 and G37 to run at the track just for fun.

I work for a steamship line with AHQ in LGB so I may be out there again this year. If they let me drive I'll PM you.

Hey Joey?

Even if you bought a G37, you'd still be a douchenozzle.

Go cry on the Bimmer Forum - I hear they're used to that sort of behavior from grown men...

You guys are SO SENSITIVE , man. Can't even tell an innocent story without people FREAKING OUT.You don't believe that I pulled up on a TT300Z or a SC400? Did I say that I beat them in a race? NO! Did I embellish like most of you and say I left the guy so far in the rear view mirrow that you couldn't even see him?NO.I never even raced the cars. Did you not read that my daughter was in the car?Man, you guys are like talking to a bunch of 8 yr olds. And you think I made up the story of the guy making bowing motions to my car? yeah, I made that up....NOT.The guy pulled up next to me and obviously wanted to say something. So I rolled down the window and he asked if my car was the TT, and I said yes, and then he said, OH, forget it , I won't waste my time and try to race that car, I know how fast it is, and he made those bowing motions. I told him I would have raced him already but had my daughter and then pointed out my daughter, whose head barely clears the door sill. He said, OH, no problem, beautiful car.

What's so unbelieveable about that story? If I was trying to FABRICATE some nonsense, I would have told you that the car that he was driving was a G35 or a G37. Or even better, I could have picked a fast car like a Vette, or Porsche. No, it was 2 cars that are both slower than the 335 or the G37. If I was lying, I would have at least picked 2 FASTER cars.

You guys need to chill. And you guys keep mentioning me bad mouthing the G37. Besides saying my 335 is better, when did I bad mouth the G37? I never said anything horrible about it, never said that its a POS, that you guys are stupid for buying one, that they are unreliable, that they are slow, etc. Didn't say any of that.

And then Joe603 and NChop pull the wussy power play and banned me. Couldn't do it like a man. He says SEE YOU and calls me a DOUCHE. REal mature JOE, nice touch.

You keep banning me like a biatch, and I'll keep coming back with more, and more. I have an infiniti amount of emails, IP addresses, and a lot of free time on my hands. Respect my opinion and that I chose something diffferent. That doesn't make me the enemy. I'm not asking for you to agree, or even to like me.But funny I get banned and I NEVER started the ugliness, nor did I ever get as ugly as others got to me, but I bet they didn't get banned.
