Hi everyone,
I need some help troubleshooting my 2007 G35. I have been having real loud road noise and it causes vibrations under 5 mph and cannot figure out why this is the case. I am not sure if this is because of my tires not being tracked right or could it be the wheel bearings? I recently changed the rear tires out but still get the noise and it's hard to tell if it's the rear of front tires causing the noise. Thanks for any help. :wtf2:

Could be tires, could be rotors.

All the wheels been balanced? Alignment lately? Rotors/Brakes checked?

Well i just put those rear tires on recently so I am assuming they at least tracked/balanced the rear tires. I have not checked the brakes and rotors recently. The car only has 33,000 miles on it.

Road noise, what kind of pavement are you driving on? I had a car from a friend and he had a very loud road noise, out by him, not by me! MMM I checked the tires, the bearings , etc, What was it? a combination, They have bluestone roads out east by him and we have smooth ones in by me. Also he had OLD tires on the car, so this was his problem. Now if your front tires are old noise travels in unibody cars, you will not locate it as easy as the old cars in the day with a frame. Also check the pressures with a good gauge, and remember for every 10 degrees of temp change, you gain a pound or loose it, hot up, cold down. If you want to get crazy, try Nitrogen it is used in the Nascar stock cars and all new cars that have "green" valve caps, it is not effected by heat or cold.

Chris,

After my original Michelin tires wore out, I installed a "free" set of Bridgestone SO-1 Pole Postition tires. They were great when new. As the miles added up, I began to have loud road noise regardless of speed. I was sure it wasn't a bearing as it was a growl rather than a roar. Put new Bridgestone RE 760 Sports on the car this year. Noise is gone! Replace the fronts or, for a very SHORT time only, put your rear wheels and new tires on the front. If the noise is gone, question answered!

I purchased my CPO '08 G35X with 27k miles in March. After I noted uneven tire wear I got a new set of Hancook tires from the dealer. (see this post: new-owner-08-g35x-cpo-inspection-issues ... O#p5572401)

I started noticing increasing road noise when I drove on a freshly paved road that should have been whisper quiet. Now its bad enough I can hear over the radio. I only have 40k miles on it but it sounds like a wheel bearing to me. Tires with only 10k?

Since I'm still in the CPO warranty period, I'm bringing it to the dealer soon. I'll repost with results.

Thanks
