In the fall of 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research, with the aim of reporting more detailed and more easily compared information than is currently available. Results are also updated four times a year, not just once a year, to more promptly catch any changes as the cars age.

NICO saw the value of this research, and has been very helpful. When I first posted this thread, 77 G35 owners had signed up. We're now approaching 600! Back then, we weren't yet collecting data on the G. Now we're providing results for every model year, even the 2008.

But more participants would still be helpful--especially for the coupe. The G37 is also included.

To encourage participation, anyone who helps provide the reliability data will have full access to the results free of charge.

For the details, and to sign up to participate:

Vehicle reliability research

Update: the G is also the only model with THREE sample sizes over 100. And the 2003 is at 97--that will be #4. This owner group is awesome.

I no longer own the G35 so I'm guessing I can't help much here. Let me know if you need any data for a Titan though.

Just about any vehicle can be enrolled. I start collecting data when I get 25. I'm not close yet for the Titan, but the only way I'll get there is if people sign up beforehand.

Here's the gist of it:

You'll receive emails with links to the surveys each month.

The first month you're required to respond, and then the month after the end of every quarter (January, April, July, October).

If you have had no repairs, the response is just an approximate odometer reading and verifying that two other pieces of info are still correct. Very quick.

In other months, you just respond if you had a repair the previous month. Then you fill out a longer survey, but it's still just one page:

http://www.truedelta.com/survey.php

The email will contain an encoded link to the survey, so you won't even have to log in. Just click the link and you're there.

That's it. The site has other surveys you can fill out right away, but those are voluntary and are not required to remain a member.

I also send out monthly updates to keep people informed of improvements to the site, but it's also not necessary to read these if you haven't got the tiime.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them.

Thank you, sir, may I have another (bump)?

Started collecting data on the 2005, though still a couple short of the minimum. 2004 next closest, six cars short of the minimum.

Can someone retitle the thread?

I've decided that "G35 reliability - how does it truly compare?" may work better.

Thanks.

I'm going to collect data on all but the 2006 this month. The 2004 and 2005 are each still a single car short of the minimum, though. So more cars would help.

I started collecting data on all years, even the 2006.

Current counts:2003: 372004: 292005: 232006: 202007: 19

Total: 137

For at least 2007, and maybe all years, I'll have to separately analyze the coupe and the sedan. So please keep them coming, as I'll need especially large samples to do this.

Up a few more per year, to 148 total. I'm looking forward to good results for many of these years in mid-May.

Entered info for ONE of our 05 G35 sedans, but wouldn't let me enter the other.

Include a different plate number for the second. I don't need the plates right now. But you do need a way to tell the two apart. So enter some distinguishing feature in the plate: color, transmission type, sport vs. non-sport, coupe vs. sedan, etc.

I am not one bit happy with my G35 coupe. I have been having an oil consumption issue since I leased the car less than a year ago. They've already performed two oil consumption analyses (4000 miles each) and are asking me to do it again for another 4000 miles. Infiniti has pretty much accused me of lying. My last oil consumption analysis they zip tied the dip stick and told me not to open the hood of the car. My oil changes only take place at Inifiniti. I was also instructed to not add any oil to the car if it runs low on oil. I am to request that they send someone to get the car if it runs low on oil. I see a few others are having this issue however, I haven't seen a resolution as yet. Any resolutions out there????

You're very welcome.

Those of you who have signed up--so far this month not enough of you have responded to the survey for me to provide results on any year of the G35. Please respond if you haven't already - this is the survey you receive the emails for.

hmmmm.... how are you supposed to know if the oil runs low if the dipstick is tied and you can't open the hood?

wait till the light comes on? that means the engine is already loosing oil pressure, right?
