Have you ever been outside VA? Actually, even in Virginia (I live in VA Beach), the State Troopers use blue lights, but it varies....

In regards to the Charger and Mustang cop cars, we have a couple undercover Charger's that are used as cop cars. One in particular was black with a short antenna, it had a female state trooper driving it in traffic. Another one we saw was painted blue and gray to match the state troopers colors.
Well, the person dressed in black in the first picture is carrying a gun on his hip, that you can see, so unless meter maids started packing....

Completely true. Here in Rockford the RPD has an Escalade with 24's on it that they supposedly seized from a drug-dealer. They use it for undercover operations mostly, but flaunt the fact that they get to drive the damned thing.

AddictionG35 is correct - HPD officers receive an allowance when using their personal cars as police vehicles. I remember seeing a lot of Gran Torinos on Oahu back in the day when Starsky and Hutch were popular on TV

I have been out of Virginia once or twice. The cops that I tend to see don't use blue lights, without there red lights on. I tend to try and stay away from cops, but in the past I am sure I had cops lights in my rear view mirror a lot more often than you had. They were all red and white.

Just a side note, have you ever been outside of the US?

Once or twice... 15 years in the military - you tend to travel a little. Like I said, I've lived in VA on and off for nearly 10 years, and the cops use blue (I'm a Navy cop and a reserve Portmouth, VA sheriff's deputy). But again, it can vary from state to state.

Really you to, military brat for 20 years so we also tended to travel two or three times to see the different cop cars. I think military police have some of the wose choices in cars, judging by the bases around here.

It's the whole "lowest-bidder-gets-the-contract' system. You should have seen the piece o'crap Mitsubishi Spacewagons we had in Greece...

Picture this thing plain white with blue lights on top... NOT!

Gives a whole new meaning to the word paddywagon. Heck could be worse look at Englands and Rome's. I mean how can you try and keep up with another car, what kind of engine can they have fixed up in them.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_car

I wouldn't be surpised if most EU countries, or maybe limited to well populated EU cities, had a restriction on high speed chases. With the dense populations, tight roads and fast production cars a high speed chase could get real dangerous real fast. Anybody know if this is the case?

That would certainly solve the question of how big is the engine in the POS spacewagon because it wouldn't matter.
