Stoney - So sorry to hear of your accident, and I'm glad you're OK, brotha. You leave this place and I'll hunt your a$$ down. Keep in touch, we're all buds here.:D

Hopefully your G can become a "donor" to help some other G owners... Drop me an "E" off-line so I can put you in my address book.

Get well soon Reverend.

I hope my Q45 is a little more sturdy!!

But you have to worry about trucks since they're more likely to roll over in the first place. Glad to see you're considering some cars...

I remember an old Volvo ad where they turn a 240 sedan upside down and then drop it from 6 feet. The car bounces once and the rear window pops out. That's all.

An old RWD Volvo 240 would be a good beater car, but I'm not so sure about all the new FWD models.... not the same car that made Volvo famous.

I used to have a '75 Volvo 164E (same as 240) and enjoyed watching a car like mine in a monster truck line-up... even the monster truck couldn't crush the roof! :pface

Damn stoney, glad you are ok. I did a nasty drift after being rear ended on the highway at about 130km/hr. Was thinking what a superstar drift, until it kicked back violently and then I was battling the steering wheel, making sure idon't sideswipe anyone on the road. Anyway, when the car kicked back, smacked my head on the window real good, my passenger screamed, I looked over ***BANG POP***

air bags deployed, car rolled to the otherside, came to a stop, jumped out of the car, and was in total shock. I'm grateful I'm alive, and even though we had our differences, you do make this board a funny place to be. Don't go no where, we'll all missya!

good luck, those subaru wagons are dope! Get one.

Volvos are very safe cars, and so are saabs. Volkswagens are safe too, along with Subarus. Before I got my 240, I looked into the 98 subaru impreza RS. Great car, very safe, but awd didnt see like much fun for me. I got the 240 and in nj, we had the worse winter this year we have seen for a couple years. The 240 wasnt that bad in snow either and I dont have lsd. As long as you keep moving slowly, but dont stop it's fine. About safety, yea I did notice nissans, or japanese cars for the matter arent that safe. Subarus are excellent cars in my opinion, and probably the safest jap cars out. the boxster engine is actually related to Porsche because I think I remember subaru and porsche worked together at one time, or were close I cant remember details. But yea, subaru will be a good car, escpecially seeing your in alaska and I hear subarus last. (consumer reports gave them high rating) Not sure bout the new ones, and the 98 rs had head gasket problems but whenever u buy a car just remember to look into all those little details. the 98 rs had a different sohc engien that was only available for one year so i wouldnt worry bout it.

Wow. Glad you survived. Black ice can do in any one. Doesn't matter what you're driving. The problem with Saabs and Volvos is that although they tend to fare better in a rollover situation, they're still... well...Saabs and Volvos. Subarus are okay too, but every Subi I've driven has always felt cheap to me. Q's are outstanding cars but compared to what you were driving, a Q's going to be more expensive to operate/maintain. How about installing a roll-bar in a new G20 or replacement vehicle of a similar size? Rollbars not that expensive, they're sensible, plus they give you that rollover protection, which sounds like the G20's only major weakpoint..It's also a plus if you enjoy taking your car to the track. Just a thought. Good luck.

I've never priced one out for myself. But I believe rollcage.com gives free quotes.
