Well its a sad end to a great freindship but today my G met its maker .

it was pretty nice out today so i took her to commanders call , when we were leaveing i went to pass a slower car and when i went to merge back into my lane the car hit black ice and darted sideways , after makeing a drift that would make any of you 240 kids jelous the car darted the other way faster than i could recover it . the car went off the road at 35mph just off the road is a 10 foot drop off and a tree , the car landed on its left wheels and flipped over into a tree , crushing the roof past the steeringwheel . i crawled out of it thru the rear window and crawled up the hill to people rushing to the scene. i guess they were pretty shocked i was covered in blood from my head witch was sliced open down the the skull. 16 stiches later and a few x rays i went home .

They wont let me look at it yet , ive been visited by alot of people so far , most noteable is the base chaplain who belives its a sign from god and no one can figure out i lived . the drivers seat is broken from the roof crushing it down . no pics yet as im not allowed to see it , ill post them when i can get down to it .

But as of right now im with freinds as they make sure i dont fall into coma from the concussion and my g is freshly washed and waxed upsidedown in the ditch in the artic

She wont be replaced , and im sad to say ill probably leave the nissan world after 3 nissans .i need to get something bigger and 4wd , so im gonna pick up a 03 sierra , figure i can afford it as ill be signing up for another 4 years in the airforce , i never thought these guys cared about me till one dude was wrapping my head getting my blood all over his un protected hands , that says something ...

JPALM i know how you felt bro , this sucked majorly , to boot i remeber every detail and keep replaying it in my head , im so sad shes gone ......... :(

Uuuuh, for some reason, I don't feel the slightest bit jealous of the type of drift that you just pulled off. Unless you meant to crash the car.....: )

J/k man, sorry to hear about that.....G20's are hella nice cars....

Oh my God....Wow, you are the last person I would expect to post something like this.... That's terrible. Your car is the business class sedan I wouldn't mind owning once I graduate. I'm glad to hear you're ok though, and surrounded by friends to ensure you don't pass out. Here's hoping everything turns out ok. No worries about leaving the Nissan world, but I hope you stick around these forums. Yeesh, theres a couple of you guys here and from the 240sx.org boards that are the only reason I come here.Best wishes,

Alex

WoW! Man thats just sad. :( Im glad that you wern't hurt very badly. As far as a 4x4 have you checked out the supercharged quad cab Fronteer? I was looking at them at the dealer the other day,and I was pretty impressed.I came close to getting an Xterra when I finally decided on the luxury of the Altima. The Fronteer IMO is an awesome truck. :)

Wow Stoney, I unfortunately looked right past the thread early this morning. That's horrible what happened man. I guess you got a laptop up in the hospital now? Bet you definately can't wait to get to Florida now. No black ice there, ever.I didn't think you were in the airforce. I thought you were in the army or something because of working on those hummers all the time. I'm a armed forces moron so don't flame me.At least you crawled out alive and I'm sure everyone here is thankful for that! Get well.

Dammit Stoneballs, you're not going anywhere. I'm very glad you're ok. Scalps heal well and leave *****in' scars. Trust me, I know. I had the best profile in the world at basic. No Kevlar helmet, just softcap. You'll be fine even if you have a headache for a few days.

Look at the Nissan trucks man. The GM products are inferior quality, IMO. I had a '00 ZR2 Blazer that the steering was sloppy as hell by 40k miles.

Here's to a quick recovery brother. :rockon

yah true , but the first sideways drift was beatiful (but not intentional) , i remember after the first one that everyone behind me would think i was some awesome driver , but when her tail snapped back the other way i knew i was in trouble . i figured id just back it into that damned ditch but i guess the 10 foot drop changed my plans . a freind came over last night and said the car is wrapped around the tree too , i didnt see that , just figured it was kinda resting against it , but he says the floor board is tacoed .....outta be interesting to get the pics tomorrow , cant bring myself to go out there yet ...hi im jonny knoxville, welcome to jackass

Stoney,If you were in the World Rally Championship, you would have flipped the car back over, kicked in the bumpers and took off again. Now I know your are hard-core! I don’t think I have every seen a G20 on the WRC circuit.

Nooooo:(:(:(:(!!!!!!

:(:(

That is horrible!Too bad about the car!!At least you are ok! (more or less)

Hope you you heal up well.

About the next car:There really is no need for AWD anwyhere in the US as long as you have premium winter tires. My RWD 300hp Q45 was snow-plow in disguise with a set of Blizzaks.Even tho i was completly inexperienced with RWD in winter at the time. It's all in the tires.

I know after that experience u might feel for AWD but really no need.

I dont know what your budget is, but if you tell us I am sure we can give you good input.

Get well airman and stay in touch.

Fred....:)

PS: If i was your Commander, I would give you "incentives" to buy Nissan/Infiniti...;)

Yikes! You said the roof was totally crushed? I guess you bent over sideways to keep from getting crushed yourself?

Well, sh*t happens.... too bad it had to happen to you.

I'm still neurotic from my last accident ('90 Camry V-6 T-boned in Dec. '99). Luckily I hadn't poured a lot of repair money into it (unlike the $9000 I've spent in 3 years on my '92 Q).

Can't say I'm a big truck fan, but in Alaska I'd probably drive a truck too. But.... did see a Ford Expedition that flipped over in a low speed accident near my house and the passenger side roof was TOTALLY crushed (but no passenger there). Not all trucks are safe!!

Maybe look for a 1-2 year old Toyota?? I'm sure Alaska ruins cars, so not worth buying a new one, is it?

dude i'm so sorry about you loss. that really sucks. i know you can never replace your G, because i know you loved her alot. its great that you are OK though. i've been in a horrible accident before. my best friend was killed because we went sideways into a tree going 60+ MPH. i came out of it w/ nothing more than seatbelt bruises and a little brain bruising from hitting my head so hard against the windows. i have pictures of the car, but not on the computer. it is hobbile looking. no wonder my friend didn't make it :(

as for a replacemnt , me and my handy tapemeaure went car shopping , nissan offres NOTHING when it comes to rollover protection , these cars are not safe in rollovers from what i measured , the subaru however has triple layers of metal and the metal that holds the roof up is 50% thicker alothgether than any nissan i found , the passat comes close , but the new altima doesnt , they made the area thicker with plastic panels . they are too busy matching horsepower and catering to enthusats (witch isnt a bad thing) but after this crash safety sells . espiccly consiering a volvo wagon got me excited , and it was sitting beside a prelude type sh and a celica gts.

take a look at the pics of the G20 accident thread and you will see why im now concerned with how much metal is in and around the area between the a and b pillars , the doors on the g went into the roof , makeing that area weaker but aiding in driver egree and entry ,the doors held up well but since the roof had little to support it it failed , the subaru has doors that dont have a upper metal portion or "header" that is left in the top for more support , the guy that is trying sell me one rolled a subie 5 times down a moutian and showed me pics afterward , that car did much beatter than mine did so im pretty much sold on suabru/some volkswagens

so its down to 5 cars , a 2001 passat v6 with tiptronic ,2000 subrau 2.5rs with 26k and immaculte records service. every aftermarket subaru /sti part and car is so clean everywhere i could eat off it , 2003 protoge tiptronic (odd car but not much meatl) , or a 2000 chevrolet silverado ls extended cab 4x4 (beautiful) , or a 2003 WRX Wagon (in love)

oh and thanks for the support guys , your still the freidlyiset group of car people out there , ill miss the nissan world , best group of enthusiats anywhere , you all are truely awesome , been a pleasure being part of the family

"Yikes! You said the roof was totally crushed? I guess you bent over sideways to keep from getting crushed yourself?"

no i think i was still in the seat , i watched the domelight come in at me , seat's bent all the way back , the door caught the seatlbelt (wrapped in the twisted up b pillar/door) and made it so tight that i couldnt unlatch the belt , had to squrim out of the belt , over the front seats and out the rear window , halfway to the window i found i was sraying blood , it was then i began to panic , luckily the rear window blew out so my hands didnt get cut up at all , even thought my hands should have been on the wheel , if they were tho they would have been cut off fromt he roof coming in past the steeringwheel so god only knows what i did with them as i was rotateing thru the air .

found out the wieght in the rear caused the car to "corkscrew" in mid air when it l;eft the road and went down the emabnkment, it hit the tree with the roof in mid screw right at the upper a pillar

No kidding man, think about fryrice. I haven't seen him here in a while, but most people were really cool with a z-28 owner being on the board.
