sweet deal! hey you ever consider gettin some 4's to pair up with those tweets? if you did pick up a pair, you could make kick panels and put the 4's and tweets in em... you already have the crossovers/eq that you'd need to run em properly, so might be worth considering for filling in the midrange that you'll be lacking

Nah, with the system properly tuned, I should not need any. The only customizing I want to do to the car is the sub enclosure/amp-processor rack. Everything else should simply be a drop-in upgrade.

really? the last two competitions i went to, the 1st and 2nd place SQ cars both had 3 way components up front... i mean i might be a bit biased towards 3 ways cause i have a set of em, but i don't think you can tell me that the CL-61 CDT's (6.5 and tweet) will sound nearly as full as a set of CL-641's (6.5, 4 and tweet)...

but i mean i guess i can understand if you don't want to do much customization... my car is kindof a ****box so tearin the crap outta my door panels was a no brainer :pface

LOL

Nah, I don't want to get into setting up kicks at all. My last setup was only with 2-way comps and it staged quite nicely. Since I won't be competing with it at all, I am simply wanting a higher-end setup. Now, if I were wanting to compete, I'd probably go the waveguide route :D

In fact, since I'm wanting a nice sounding, simplistic setup, I will probably get a set of musicomps for the front pair instead of utilizing the AudioControl 4xS. I will simply run the PH15 in 3-way mode and push 125w to each side and 125w to the 12w6. The PAR225 should give me enough Xover capabilities to handle that without using the 4xS Xover.

125W to a 12W6? isn't recommened power for those things over 400W RMS? i dunno, i maybe it'll be ok, but i think you'll be underpowering that sub a little too much... have you tried runnin it with such little power? cause I heard the most common ways people blow their subs is by underpowering them, and cranking the volume... i dunno if this is true or not

I've run this sub with 500w for a few years and ran it with the lower power for a couple of years as well using the same PH15 without any issues. I will probably be pushing closer to 175w to it...

Blowing a speaker with "less" power is a myth....

damn... you're really forking out the money for your system :ylsuper i wish i could do that, but i gotta pay $2000 for tuition for my next semester of university, and i also gotta save $5300 for a 2 month long field study in italy during the summer...

i'm soo devoted to my car that i was considering not going on the trip just so i could work on my system :pface but i heard that italian chicks are really horny and they love blondes, so i'd prolly have a LOT of fun :pface

still gonna buy an amp for my sub though :D gonna end up settling for a Memphis 16ST-1000D to save some money... 1100W RMS @ 1 ohm, and it'll match my other memphis that i have already

Yeah, I def not strapped for cash....Have fun on your trip, just make sure you "wrap it up"!!!!

I'm going for a "low powered" system this time around. My last system hit 138db or so. Def too much for an old fart now. Just remember, the difference between your 1100w and my 175w is appx 7db (assuming 1 similar 12" sub")..... ;)

haha ya... good safe times :D

my previous system hit 139.2 and those were on brand new calibrated AudioControl mics... it was one 12" Orion HCCA with a Tsunami 1000D... with my DD 15" i hope to hit about 142db.. dunno if that'll happen though, we'll see...

Mine was pretty much what I listed initially except I had a Rockford PA1-HD pre-amp. The PPI A600 was bridged to the 12w6.
