Every mechanic/shop owner/tow truck driver thinks my car (or any other 240SX I happen to be with at the time) is front wheel drive....it's somewhat annoying. :|

That is true. Almost everyone that I've met that didn't specifically know Nissans thought it was FWD.

Try driving a 300hp Q45 and having EVERY idiot who sees it think it's a V6. :rolleyes

Try driving my car and have every moron say they didn't make a manual T Bird, or say it's not superchargered, it's turbocharged....

you gotta see under the hood, it's even funnier when some retard says "so it's turbo huh?" when I've got the hood popped and they're looking at it...

Wasn't there a Mazda commercial like this? Something about one of Mazda's racing teams and how they "never threw a rod"...I think it was on TV around when the RX8 was introduced.

whew, glad i havent heard that one.

how about this i heard from a gm master tech at a cadillac/olds/pontiac/gmc/saab dealer.

turbos just route the exaust gas back into the intake to make it burn easier.

"so your saying its like egr", i said.

no, its different.

that guy makes big bucks and is well respected around here. i tried to tell him how a turbo works, but you cant really teach a guy like that anything.

One time I was at a car lot with my friends and they had just taken in a FD RX-7.The Head mechanic comes out and looks into the engine bay of it while we had the hood popped."Those guys lied when they said it was a turbo 4-cyllinder.""This thing is a twin-turbo v6."

This was in a CD article a couple months ago:

Woman brings her car in and say that there is something loose in the steering. The tech checks it out and everything is fine. She picks the car up and they tell her everything is fine. She comes back a couple of days later saying the same thing is happening. Tech takes a further inspection, drives the car around, can't find anything wrong with it. She comes to pick up the car and asked them if they found the problem. The tech tells her they found the problem and fixed it. "It was a loose screw behind the steering wheel." She never made the connnection.
