So me and a buddy were driving around town last weekend and everything was fine until all of a sudden the car felt like it ran out of gas. No response to the gas pedal what-so-ever. So we coast to the side. (The car has gas in it - by the way) and try and start the car again. Come to find out, the fuel pump isnt priming when the key is turned on.

So we go to walmart to get a tow rope and I was going to tow the car home with my dsm. An hour and a half later or so.. the car started back up again and ran fine the rest of the night.

The next day it does the same thing. Now the pump will not prime at all.

So far we've checked the actual fuel pump (Walbro 190lph) and its perfectly fine.

What would make a fuel pump intermittently work?

Did you confirm it's the pump and not the line? Maybe it was installed improperly.

The pump has been in the car working for nearly 2 years

I did confim that it was the pump Theres two things

First, it doesnt whine when the key turns onAnd secondly, we hooked it up to the battery and came on full power

No problem with the pump

Im leaning more towards ignition switch, fuel pump relay, or CAS. Any of these sound like they could be a culprit..?

Its just so weird because it would start working for a few minutes than the car would "run out of gas" again

im having a similar problem and im guessing its ECU related

i had One ECU that turned my pump on.. but the car never shut off.. another ECU that didnt turn anything on at all..and one more ECU that turn the pump on only for a sec. to get 10 psi.

very odd problem

What do you mean the pump doesnt start up? You mean it doesn't prime when the key is in the on position? And the car won't start when you crank it?

Just to confirm what most others on this page are saying... check your ECU wiring. Most wiring especially as a swap gets messed with and things do come loose. My friend had the same issue with his car because he just did the old "twist and tape technique" to his ECU wires instead of soldering them.

This makes a huge difference over time...
