So I just installed a 255 walbro on my 95 240 with a s13 redtop. Now the car seems to be running really rich. Whenever I get on it, it sputters and loses power big time. It doesn't idle worth a crap and I'm getting terrible gas mileage. It also backfires loud, constantly. I know the previous owner had run a power line from the pump manually, cause the stock power line didn't work for some reason. Not sure where the power line goes. But I heard that running it straight to the battery ups the voltage big time, and can flood the engine.

How can I fix this problem? Can I run the power line to some other place, and put a fuse in, or what? How is everyone else running their fuel pump. Please let me know! I'll post a pic later, thanks!

I traced the power line from the fuel pump and it goes to a blue relay right next to the ecu on the passenger side kick panel. The blue relay has 4 wires coming out of it, 3 red and 1 black. The fuel pump power wire T'd in with the black wire...which is wierd cause I thought that would be ground. But the car runs, so it can't be. What is this relay? And should I run the power somewhere else, like to the battery? What can I do to stop my car from flooding so bad? Thanks.

the stock Fuel pressure regulator on the SRs tend to fail when pushed by the 255, causing the car to run really rich

the power supply to the pump has nothing to do with your problem.

Cool, where is the FPR located on the redtop motor? I'm guessing replacing it with a stock one won't fix the problem, so are there aftermarket ones available to buy? What brands are there? Thanks.

there are many good replacements, but Nismo makes one the is a direct replacement for the SR and it is adjustable, it will run you about $125

The fuel pressure regulator is located on the front of the fuel rail, it has the return fuel line attached to it along with 1 vacuum line
