I just put in a new injector and the car drove fine for a few minutes. Went to work the next day with it smelling of gas and the old problem came right back. With the injector I got all these o rings but only used one. I couldn't see where the others went so I didn't use them. Now the car is pouring gas from the exhaust and is undriveable. Also the 4th cylinder is flooding. Does anyone know exactly how to correct this? I'm afraid I might have a hole in my piston. Thanks,Matt

did you lubricate your o rings. sounds like you didnt and damged them because sound like a lot of fuel is getting past them.

you may not have a hole in your piston, but you risk bending a connecting rod due to hydrolock. don't turn the key again until you remedy this. pull spark plugs and dry the cyls out real good.

matching the locations of the o-rings from the old injector wasn't apparent? did you look down the hole to see if lower o-ring, pintle cap was left in after you pulled old injector?

Thanks for your replies. I did change one of the o-rings. It was the little one by the tip of the injector, but there were 3-4 others that came with the injector that didn't make sense. I didn't lubricate the o ring either. I also noticed that the new injector where the plastic part is isstarting to barely warp from the heat. Just barely though. It won't hurt the performance but if I leave it in there and run the car it will melt it. That fourth cylinder is getting hot fast. When I pulled the plug it was black at the end. That cylinder isn't receiving power either. If I put a brand new plug in it gets fire for a few minutes. I pulled the wire and the power dropped confirming this. But after a minute or so when I try it again the power doesn't drop. Gas totally starts dripping out of the tail pipe if I drive it around the block.

Oh, I forgot to answer. I looked down the hole where the injector goes and it is bare metal. No ring of any kind visible. And matching the o rings was only apparent with the small fatter o ring. The others don't look like they could possibly go anywhere. I hope I didn't cause other damage by driving the car to work.

I can dry the cylinders simply by removing the plugs and letting the gas evaporate? How long does it take and how will I know when they are dry down there?

yes on evaporation. or use compressed air to speed it up. use a flashlight.

can you post pictures? most injectors have 2 o-rings. did the old one you pulled out have 2 and a pintle cap?

i don't understand what you are saying about things starting to melt. again, pictures might help.

you also didn't mention what kind of car/engine.

It's a 91 G20. Yes, I replaced 2 o rings. A little one by the cap and a bigger one at the top. I don't know what the other ones go to. I bought the injector at Auto Zone. Should I return it and have them order another one or go to an actual dealership? Thanks, Matt

2 o-rings sounds correct. is the injector NEW, or rebuilt? i don't trust used injectors, and 'rebuilt' are still used. at a minimum, i would order the correct o-rings from one of our sponsors (i'm partial to scottsdale (everything____.com)) hmmm, you have a G20 and you posted in NOM? no matter, SR20DE.

still don't know what you mean about melting. don't forget to lube the new o-rings. buy a fuel pressure tee and check for pressure leakdown.
