I have a Pathy 2003 with only 85K miles. How hard is it to replace inner and outer bearings in the front wheel.
I feel a bit of wiggle on the front driver side tire if i check the wheel at the 12 o'clock and the 6 o'clock position, I know this is not normal. Not to mention that I hear a bit of clucking noise when going over bumps.

[just trying to respond before this thread gets old...]

Its easy...but you have to have the tools (locknut + torque wrench /// ring pliers /// long punch set) ...also replaceBOTH cone/cup too (especially the inner race)...in your case inner/outer since you got a wiggle...AND its messy

all I can think off now...

I'll be doing a full write-up on it in the next week or so if the weather here holds out. If you need something more pronto I can give you a run-down

If the bearings are not making noise (grinding / rumbling when you turn them) you probably just need to do a wheel bearing re-pack (new grease) and adjust. That is a standard maintenance item. Lots easier than putting new bearings in.

Sounds more like bad ball joints to me.

If the wheel bearings was loose you could easily wiggle it in any direction

I am also suspecting bad ball bearings.. there is no wiggle if i put one hand at the 9 o'clock position and the other hand at the 3 o'clock position and shake the wheel.
If i put one hand at the 12 o'clock position and the 6 o'clock position and shake the wheel i can feel the wiggle. There is no noise, only a clunking noise when going over bumps....

If I am going to replace the ball bearings i should replace the lower control arms and get alignment done.
