I have an appointment at the dealer this Thursday for a front left bearing noise in my car. My warranty is still in effect until July 28 so I want them fix any and everything they can find. I initially thought my tires might be the problem. However I have replaced one tire, and rotated and balanced all of them. The noise is still there. I will drop it off and get a loaner Thursday afternoon. I also ordered a new un-cut key off e-bay yesterday. Hopefully they can cut and program it while working on the wheel bearing.dgielow wrote:OK...got the car fixed yesterday!
It WAS a bearing! Just like we all thought. The first time the dealership looked at the vehicle they spun the tire on the lift at about 70 mph but the noise did not show up b/c there was no weight/load placed on the tire/wheel.
The second visit they actually took the car for a road test and found the noise right away!
You guys were a huge help...thank you for all your input and ideas!
The cost was $430...I thought that was reasonable considering the other prices I've seen dealerships charge for this...$400-$550 from my basic research.
They also recommended a fuel injection cleaning service...that was $120. Did I need that??? Who know's...but I thought after almost 90,000 miles it couldn't hurt!
Thanks ag ain!

How long did you have to wait for a new bearing. I have a bad front wheel bearing on my 2006 M35X, as diagnosed my dealer on Apr 20. They ordered a bearing and scheduled the service for today. This morning my dealer called and said they couldn't get the bearing and are expecting it on May 8. Does this sound reasonable to anyone? Car is under warranty.dgielow wrote:OK...got the car fixed yesterday!

I believe it's aftermarket brand, but the following is one of the reviews from amazon for that item:06M4.5 wrote:Is Timken oem or aftermarket?
Best price I seen for oem is $159 ea
I just did mine yesterday. Only real difficulty was I broke the head off the bolt holding the speed sensor. Otherwise the repair is pretty straight forward. I found these DIY instructions by asavage very helpful:rxmclaren7 wrote:i was wondering how hard it would be to do this on my own...replacing the hub bearing?? mine is going and i need to replace it soon...
