How did this batch turn out? Are you happy with the new supplier? I'm sorry I had to miss out on this. I'm up to my ears in other Q related issues including my active suspension .

Find a way to get the cash.

It was cheap even for me. How cheap?I think the postage to AU was about the same as the strut bar itself. As far as value for money add ons to the Q goes, this is No. 1 on my list.Excellent price for a quality product.

My active was playing up too, and fixed itself about 8 months later. Seriously, it just started working properly again one day.....

Lucky you!!!! I have a post in the IOM regarding my current active-related problem. I also have a possible bad MAF problem, and I'm going to need new tires and the there are a bunch of other little stuff too. Goodies unfortunately have to wait.

I can't argue with anything you just said, except I have the above mentioned issues the deal with first. I'm sure price, quality, value, and benefits are as it good as it gets.

The material showed up today. The center bars are flatter than I wanted. I don't know how the guy measured the bar, but the numbers he sent me were not the same as what I am seeing.

I will cut one up and test fit it this weekend. If it fits on the car with no plenum clearance issues, I am in business, and I should be able to complete them next week. If not, I am screwed! I will need to cut & re-weld new tabs on the end links. Not impossible, but a little more work than I had hoped for.

I will also work on another batch of 10 that I currently have in stock. If I can get these to work, I will have more for sale.

On a side note, my mother broke both her feet last week, and I need to build her a wheelchair ramp so she can get in her house, so my Saturday work time is cut a bit short. She is is good spirits, considering.

I'm very sorry to hear that Jeff. I wish her a speedy recovery, and she is lucky to have you, especially since you will be building her a ramp. With all of your experince in measurements (strut braces, wheel offsets, Q stuff, etc.), I'm sure it'll turn out right and strong the first time .

I Got the ramp mostly done. No railing, but good enough to use for now. Spent some time with mom. She is doing fine.

I also got all the hats drilled and fitted on the strut bars. I cut a couple bars and end links, but have a bunch to go. I will try to do more tomorrow.

I will have enough to do 30 bars, so if anybody was on the fence, go ahead and pay me now.

Most of us have one - it tightens steering response nicely.

I have all the modifications done on the first 20 bars. I still need to test fit each one before I box them up. I bought enough to do 10 when I get these out.

17 of you have paid, 4 have committed to pay, and 5 have expressed interest. I have one on eBay. This leaves 3 uncommitted and available.

If you have not paid, please do so. If you are interested, but have not contacted me yet, please do so.

I should get the initial 17 out to FedEx by next Monday as promised. I ran out of FedEx boxes, but they should be coming in this week.

Update March 6, 2007

Hey guys, sorry it has been so long to get these out.

I have all 20 finished and boxed up. I will input everyone's shipping information in FedEx and create the shipping labels tonight and drop them off at FedEx.

I will send each of you a tracking number when I get it put in the system. You can track the shipments on line at http://www.fedex.com

This batch was the hardest of all to get to fit. I am not really happy with the supplier. I had to cut the bolts, cut the bars, tap the bars, and re-cut the bars, and grind off the bolt tips, and re-tap the bars to get them to fit. And some are very tight. There is not much adjustment to these.

When you get them, install the bar and endl links as one unit. You may have to press down to get the end links to sit flat. If your car has sagged some, you might have to jack up the center cross member in the middle of the car, to get the wheels off the ground first. If you have trouble, call me. Maybe I can help you over the phone. If it just won't fit, send it back and I will re-work it or just refund your money.

These are the bars I will be sending out in the morning:

Peter BreuningerPeter BreuningerJoseph QuinioPercy AndresLewis RobinsonRyan HendricksonHussain TaylorHeath RobertsBret FrazierSiju KompanalDexter SerraoReid HerringAndy LittleMatthew PetrillaJames ChanReuben ReyesEd CarrMarcus HubbardJim Busbin

Bruce, yours will ship this week. I need to get a couple more bolts. I ran out. I have yours cut to fit the active strut mounts.

The following are part of the next batch of 10. I will be getting these done this weekend:

Thomas Brackin (pick up nexst time you are in town)Jeff SchwennekerDon KramerDeryck AlexisDeryck AlexisDanny McHale (install when you and I have time to work on your Q)Paul BierReuben Fuke

I may have one or two more, if I don't screw them up. I messed up 1 Sunday, and almost lost my cool.

If we have to jack the front would that affect the alinement after the install? I thought about this with the last batch of FSTB's. What's the word?

Jeff, thanks for all the work-- its rotten it had to be such a PIA.

We love ya!

Yes, take a look at your front tires, If they are wearing on the inside, then your front end is already out of alignment.

The aluminum bar will not do much for throwing the car off, it will give to the weight of the car once you set it back on the ground. If it was steel, it might be different. All we are dealing with are small changes in the weight transfer in cornering. The bar helps complete the parallelogram of the crossmember and the struts. It does a better job than the hood, the core support, and the firewall.

I could have just drilled the holes out more, but didn't want to make it loose. I know not every Q is exactly the same. The bar may fit on mine, but not on someone else's. I have had to re-do 2 of the bars in the past, and will do so again if someone can't get it on their car.

I installed on on Jack Coston's car Saturday, and had to make it a bit longer to fit his car.

This has been a great couple of days for the Q! I finally pulled the trigger on some new tires yesterday... got the225/55/16 Michelin Pilot Exaltos. Then I was able to test and get the USB Consult interface up and running.... so I decided to end the day by washing the Q and putting some Lexol Vinylx on the new tires.

Just as I was about to close the garage door the FedEx man showed up! 15 minutes later I was done putting Jeff's excellent FTSB on the Q and was backing out of the driveway for a test drive. It bolted up perfectly... I literally spent more time finding the right size allen wrench than it took to actually install. Clearance from the plenum is close, but no where near hitting... guess my motor mounts are OK.

I haven't done any really high speed driving or cornering with it yet - I just took it a few miles at about 50 MPH on some secondary roads near my neighborhood. It absolutely feels like the front end is tighter than before! I'm probably taking it to Myrtle Beach tomorrow, so I'll post more of a review after logging more miles. The one thing I noticed is that if I quickly rock the steering left and right, the rear end feels looser than I noticed before. I wonder if I could fix that with a rear sway bar from an active Q... any suggestions out there?

Thanks for all of your hard work Jeff!

Thanks Jeff,

It bolted right on Miss Mannors, no problemo.

Ahhhh! It drives great---took it out on the twisties and its stable as rock. Funny, it removed a little flutter that I thought was worn shocks-- this saves me mucho denaro!

I have active rear bars on both cars and the FSTB in tandom is perfect.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Did I say THANK YOU!!!

My best,

Peter

Well the a bar is the next best improvement after tires, new suspension rubber and shocks. But it will reduce understeer and make the back end "looser", so you may want to check your tire pressures.

I'd go at least 35psi.

Update March 12th,

I had a lot of other things taking up my time this weekend. I spent a lot of time with my mom.

I got the first 20 shipped, and the one active one is going to FedEx tomorrow.

I didn't get to the next 9, but should get started this Wednesday, and finish up this weekend.

Sorry for the delay, guys.

I know you're asking Jeff, but I think I would wait... If the bar has an impact, I suspect that it probably puts more stress on the suspension.

Chuy - All the answers are in this thread....

You need an alignment FIRST, and probably new upper links (see Joe at EverythingNissan.com)....

Thanks for the pleasant surprise. It was drop on and tighten up, easy to install..... I got wheelbearing issues til tomorrow morn but I look forward to any handling improvement it brings over the weekend. In the meantime though, it looks cool.

Worn tension rods can cause alignment issues. IT might align fine, but when you are driving, the stress could cause the front to toe out or the camber to change.

One thing that INFINITI suggested, was to slightly toe the car in, or put the toe on the front at minimum specs. This will help with the inside tire wear.

The wider the tire, the more the inside wear is noticeable.
