I guess if you have not been there before then you might have a tendency to believe that BS.

Russia is run by the crimminals.......Most people are dirt poor....no middle class....just travel outside of their capitol city.......you would be in shock!

I was in Moscow plenty of times and other cities as well. Its ridden with poverty beyond belief.

For the most part it looks like 1930 in the USA. Everything is a bribe there. I had to pay $ 7000.00 to get married to some crime boss.

My wife had one pair of shoes and one dress and one pair of pants to her name. No money because half the time she did not get paid........in order to keep her job she would have had to have sex with the boss!

There is a reason that hundreds of thousands of Russian women want to leave that country. Divorce rate is now around 70%.........the men drink too much Vodka..........because they are depressed with no jobs.....most that are married have a girlfriend on the side. There wives say nothing because they are afraid the husband will leave then they will even have bigger problems with two kids and no money and a husband that just walk away with no responisbility.

They dont have child support over there. If they claim they do they do nothing to enforce it.

I have been married to a very wonderful woman for 8 years now. Not even an argument.......not one....Russian/Ukrainian women are very mature and only wanted to be treated with respect. They can stand the Vodka drinking and infidelity that goes on in their country.

Most Russians and Former Soviet Republics are all in the same situation........they all look to Moscow for help.

Remember Moscow is only one city but yet that is about the only place all these countries can find work....go figure.

Russia supresses freedom of religion and the press. They kill reporters faster then they are born. They stop any religion outside the politcal orthadox state run church.

Yea Russia is a Glorious Hell Hole.

While what you said might be somewhat true, it does not apply to whole Russia! It's not only in Moscow that people lead good lives. What about St. Peters burg huh? Have you ever been there?.

Drinking is like a culture thing for Russians. That's what they do. To say that all men are drinkers and cheaters is not acceptable. Yes they do have corrupted police and politicians, but which country doesn't. It's just in there, they make it obvious and "straight up". In here it's done quietly without letting the whole world know about it.

Just my .02 cents. I have lived there for about 5 years.

It sure is a cultural thing........drinking that is..........but its drinking to excess is the norm. You cant drink that homemade Vodka with out killing yourself.

Here is a stat for you guys: The average age of a Ukranian man is 57 years old.......! Now what does that tell you?

My father in law come to visit me twice a year....does not touch a drop........goes back to his home country and drinks every day.

Your right people live in St petersburg and some live good but most live bad.....go in an average apt over there and compare it to our apartments over here.

Most cities in the FSU are living in poverty. In the USA we a few yes......but its the majority of cities over there.

Only eight years ago my wife's home where she lived with her parents is considered very average.........No Toilet/No Shower/ and up to recently no running water.........and I bought them a Frig...........The avearge Ukrainian makes about $50.00 per MONTH!....

You dont get much for 50 bucks per month........lets not forget that most do not own a car.

Walk into a Ukranian hospital and your gonna hope nothing happens to you while your there.....

Taxi drivers make more than Doctors....Unless you have been there and travled extensivley and rode the trains and bus's and visited the average person.........you will never know......

People that have money there got it only one way.......corruption

The average person in those countries have next to nothing as far as material things.......when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 everybody lost all their money........

Oh yes you do have real points there. I remember Russkix drinking vodka with tea cups filled all the way with one breath. Such a shame, but hey, if most of American population smokes weed (just my estimate since I am young and almost everyone here smokes) then they drink vodka. Everyone from 10 years old to 80 years old drink there.....

The collapse of USSR did cause a lot of poverty and not just in Russia itself. I am from Armenia and we were in the USSR too. After the collapse people were literary burning their Russian "rublis" for fire and warmth.

And most of the population in fact does NOT hate Americans. They just don't like our policies

Seems to me that a people that has been brutalized over the centuries as the Russians have been would not really know much about the US and our Democratic principles. They are still being subjected to a certain level of "brainwashing". Some of the Russians, today, long for the "old days" when the commies held sway. Thing were more certain then and offered a certain level of comfort versus today in the "free for all" economy taking place. There is still some "power"competition between the US and Russia, today, and they don't like being relegated to a second class or even third class world power. Well now that the oil market has crashed there will be more pain coming to Ivan and they may well drop down into fourth or fifth class ? There is very little produced in Russia that is highly desired by many "foreign" buyers?

On offense to the original poster, hopefully, as I, personally, bear no ill feelings towards the Russians.

If you answerd a Volga you are correct...I spent plenty of time in them........they are butt ugly and run horrible......most if not all are sticks that have the old straight shifter that comes from under the dash.......

To cite references of lack of health care is rich considering over 40 million here are without insurance. And good luck getting a Doctor if on Medicaid. I tried to schedule an appointment for my Cousin's Son, who has Medicaid, you get treated like a 10th class Citizen.
