I knew JD from the Caddy forum. We meet up in Chicago a few times a year, take part in shenanigans, etc. He mentioned a few challenges in life but nothing that seemed that severe. He wasn't really a complainer. Had a couple nice cars including a full size Brougham and a Mark VII. There's a video on Youtube of us driving each other's cars a couple weeks ago.

He posted a suicide note on Facebook twenty hours ago.

Quote »A 20-year-old Woodridge man was killed early Friday morning in Lisle when his car struck a bridge support post and burst into flames.

John David Katrenak was traveling east on Ogden Avenue about 2 a.m. when the car he was driving veered off the road and crashed into the bridge support for the Reagan Memorial Tollway, authorities said.

When police arrived they found the front of the car, including the front seat, engulfed in flames, authorities said. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found Katrenak inside the car. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Katrenak was pronounced dead at 2:25 a.m. at the scene.

DuPage County Coroner officials said preliminary autopsy results show Katrenak died from "multiple traumatic injuries."

Lisle police are investigating to determine what caused Katrenak's car to leave the road. They said they don't know how fast the car was traveling at the time of the accident.[/quote]http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=365468

I'm as sad as I am mad.

RIP.

Yeah, I suspect the accident investigators will figure it out soon enough. What a horribly painful way to go.

My condolences go out to his friends and family. I'm sure one thing a lot of people think about before they commit suicide is that no one will really care if they died. Unfortunately they are never around afterwards to see just how wrong they were.

So sorry Jesda.

No one understands what it was that drove people to take their own lives - they are surely troubled. Although, I don't think they understand the pain that they leave behind... regardless, my condolences to all his family and friends.

Sorry about your friend, its hard to tell what someone is going through or how they cope with issues. It just goes to show how we should cherish time spent people we care about because we never know how long they will be with us.

i hope at least one person takes note from this and realizes life is too precious a gift to waste in such a selfish manner.

Sad story. I can certainly understand the mixed feelings about his suicide. You mentioned he left a suicide note on facebook. Did that message offer any explanation as to why he did it?

Not a clue what it meant. Didnt mention a specific person or trigger event.

19 hours ago via Text MessageI've had enough. I've been weak and I've been strong. I've been through fire and I've been through Hell. Try to do right and I know I do wrong. Just be happy for me when my life is gone. Cause with no more hurt and no more tears, there will be no more pain and no more fears. No more people in my face that are not sincere. So smile for me when I'm no longer here. I love u all.

Posted from his phone, then 15-20 minutes later his car was found wrecked and burning with him in it.

He was talking just a day ago about how he was looking forward to taking his Fleetwood out of winter preservation and how he wanted to buy another Cadillac. His last few posts on the forum were about some bands and his suggestions on a book bag I was buying.

So sorry to hear Jesda. I wish he had been able to overcome his demons. My daughter came home Thursday and told me that one of her classmates hung herself last week. 14 years old.

^This.
