Spring compressors are used to take springs that are pre-loaded onto strut assemblies off safely...

I think what he is using here are clamps that are compressing the spring while on the struts to shorten the free-lenth...

Ah, I misunderstood. Yes, I was referring to spring compressors to deal with strut replacement.

SORRY guy's, been hectic at work have not looked at the computer. first of all yes, they are spring clamps(tomatoe, tomotoe) found at your local auto parts store. i used a spring compressor to get them compressed to install the clamps. even with the wheels on and the car and on an alignment lift, the coils are to far apart for the clamps to go on. yes, be VERY CAREFULL if you are novice. even some low budget shops may not have a high spring rate compressor to do the job. once you get the clamps started you can take off the compressor.

as for adjustment, what you see is full rate compression. meaning the coils are touching. i could back them out more up to an inch. i LOVE the ride so i wont be doing that. at full rate you can add another nut for locking purposes. if you dont use the second nut i suggest lock wire or a weld bead to secure nut.

the tien look good in the photo but no drop on the car's front. also you said in the thread the ride is softer, you must still have the same roll. it looks like you have two fat chicks in the back.

oh yeah! I've seen those at the local autozone. I've actually seen a VW Jetta lowered on these and the guy said it was great. The Jetta looked killa.

it's a shame the tiens didnt work out. well, for my taste anyway. i would have bought them. keep us informed, i'd rather do springs then clamps. but for now... DAMN this launch is break neck wit no squat and braking is dive free

What about coilovers for the Y34 from them? I know they dont have them listed but maybe some in the works, specifically ones that would work with their EDFC???

problem is... for the front struts... they have to have the knuckle built in... JIC had a core exchange program for a while... but they discontinued them to my knowledge... they may still have them available to the japanese market, but not sure they will do the core exchange (it was a $500 core charge if I remember correctly)...

its the spindle assembly that the JICs wanted a core on. All of the rest of the aftermarket companies I have seen have this already installed to combat that problem. But I really like the ease of adjusting the dampening that the TEIN EDFC offers. Its just like my Volvo S60R that has the three settings from the factory.

spindle / knuckle... eh...

Ill ask TEIN tomorrow if they have anything on the Japanese side...

I took some measurements of my car next to a stock M today after work...

Looks like it actually dropped a full inch up front and 1.3-1.4 in the rear compared to a stock M...

I meant to measure exactly what mine was before I took the stockers off... but, I am very impatient and forgot

Its a very comfortable ride the teins... plush...

I am going to be putting my stock wheels and tires on for the weekend so I will post pix in stock form as well...

I have the factory chrome rims now on 245/40zr 18 hankook ventus v4 es tires. Just wanted to get an idea of what kind of performance upgrade I can expect with this set up before I bankroll and come for the GFGs.
where is everyone getting these eibachs????

I got lucky and found a set of the Eibach Pro Springs on Ebay. I was going to lower my car but have decided not to do it. If anyone is interested in buying them, let me know.

Anyone know if nuge still has these springs? I don't have a high enough post count to send a pm yet...
