what kind of shape/mileage is it in? If its in good enough shape i could probably come get it from you.Fridge wrote:Wow to bad your in TN I have my old engine sitting here waiting to be hauled off.......
Major changes in 94. And 96 is OBD II. Wiring, electrical, etc.Chubs wrote:How much of a pain in the *** would it be to swap in a 96 motor in my 90 Q?
It is the engine that came with the car. It was already pulled when I bought it. If you want tomorrow I will check it out. I have the valve covers off and did not see any damage so it might have the parts you need. By the way I am close to Houston TX. It might be easier for me to pull the parts and ship them to you.Chubs wrote:Wwhat kind of shape/mileage is it in? If its in good enough shape i could probably come get it from you.
If you would check that out I would appreciate it very much. Let me know and I will let you know which way I would like to go.Fridge wrote:It is the engine that came with the car. Very interesting you've seen that before tech... Do you have any explination why other than OCI's (which is a valid reason)...Q45tech wrote:Ocassionally the early 90 engines did that on #2 intake, if oil wasn't changed at 90 day increments. Never seen it on 91 or later but the parts are identical?
From your pictures this is very evident all that varnish and wear.

Q45tech wrote:Just clean the varnish and HLA and replace with new non worn followers.
The amber edge on the cam lobes tells the tale.
I have had no reason as of yet to read it cover to cover, just skim through it to see what I need at the time. SO you think that it would be easiest to drop in two new rollers and replace the lifter(HLA) on No. 4. weld up the valve cover and call it a day? The only issue I would have with this is the damage to the cam lobe on No.4 and the part of the rocker sitting in the oil passage below the No. 4 exhaust valve.Q45tech wrote:Not to sound like a complete retard but what do you mean by HLA
Not knowing the HLA term proves you haven't bothered to read page em38 of fsm
What is the mileage them and do they have their valve covers?Q45denver wrote:I have a nice set of heads from a low mileage 1992 engine you could have for $200 shipped. They have no sludge or noticable wear.
