How bad is the #4 cam lobe? Unless it's really worn funky, I'd do as I had mentioned and Tech is saying... just put in new rockers/followers and put it back together. I also agree with cleaning the HLA (Hydraulic Lash Adjuster, it's what goes under the other end of the follower opposite the valve tip end). I'd just spray it out thoroughly with carb cleaner while taking care to not let the carb cleaner deflect off and get in my eyes.

It is more nicked up than anything. The tip on the HLA under the No. 4 rocker is boogered up too would you replace that also. When you say follower what are you referring to?

If it's just got a few nicks in the cam journal, I'd just sand off the high spots with some 400-600 grit sandpaper (seriously) and run it. If you can replace the HLA, then do it (I haven't dug into the Q valvetrain so I don't know if it's easy to replace or not). The follower is the rocker arm. Generally, rockers are what rock on a stud and are actuated by a pushrod that then pushes the valve down. A follower is the arm that follows the cam lobe and pushes the valve down. Basically the same part, just different terms.

What the heck--if you want to just drive it--Don't replace those rockers. It has 2 intake vales per cylinder and probably will run just fine with only one. It will be a little lumpy maybe, and not have all the new power, but it WILL run. I definitely would not pull the heads-that engine ain't worth it. At the most polish off any real rough spots on the cam lobes, put in new (used) followers, and drive on. If the HLA end is buggered up, gotta change that or it will eat up the follower end quick. J-B weld and a peice of aluminum will works just fine patching the hole. Or get a alumionum weld job for $25.
