at first i wanted a S13 coupe with an SR20 and SILVIA front...i was pretty set on it cause i dont have alot of money(college, kid and girl) and i would probably be able to afford it but after doing some math i figured that i would be paying alot anyway and maybe i should go for the kouki S14..

i currently own a 1987 COROLLA GTS LIFTBACK. the thing is, im in indiana right now and my car is in cali..

i found a 1998 S14 and its only $5500. the thing i hate the most is that its an automatic if i buy it i'll convert it to manual and drop in a blacktop SR20.

the info from your responses will help me chose one..

any help is appriciated... thanks!

i'd jump on that kouki... is it an SE?

especially with the rims and if the R33 kit is done tastefully, i'd get it, hell i payed 9 for my silver moss 97 a year ago, and just sold my 95 for 6k. it's definitely worth it.

also, i've done an auto-manual conversion before, it's not hard at all, and i'm a newb at turning wrenches. MAYBE an extra 4-5 hrs on top of the SR swap if you're doing it at the same time, and an extra 3-400 bucks.

Get the kouki. See if there are any mechanical problems and find out why they're selling it for 5.5K, if there are no problems, scoop it up NOW! Kouki is newer, so less rust, also much rarer, and if you do buy it for 5.5K, you can probably resell that on e-bay for 8-9K easy. If the only reason you're deterred is because it's automatic, if you have the money to do a SR swap, you will be able to afford doing the manual conversion along with it.

I'd personally buy the S13 because it's undoubtedly faster, lighter, and cheaper. The kouki S14 front is nice, but behind that it's still the rounded off, compromising, bleh-ness that is the S14. If you do get the S14, hold off on the manual swap untl you do the SR swap if you have to have the DRFTAR tyte SR. Saves money and time that way.

Yet another Kouki owner chiming in and saying "Kouki S14". The automatic thing is sort of a biatch, but that's fixable. If I hadn't been able to find my stick, I'd have gotten an auto S14.

$5500 is a helluva deal man, I paid $9800 for my Kouki. WISH I could have found a white one.

Thats a toss up. S13 coupe w/ silvia front looks awesome, but so does an S14.

S13 Owner saying go for the Kouki. Nice thing is that with that new of a car, you don't HAVE to drop the SR in it immediately, you can put that off abit.

Also if you look at http://driftkat.com/Nissan240SXIndex.php then you will see that they only made less than 5000 Koukis. Keep it up and perhaps after 10-20 years it might be worth something.

id rather get a s13 anyday over the 14over here in california i see 95s go fo rlike 3999-6500 and some s13s stock even go as high as 4500 well most people at first including myself liked the s14 first because it's "newer" or latest model but then after a while i grew to like the s13 more i used to think the hatches looked ghetto but then i guess my eyes adapted to it and anyway most people with s14s drool when they see s15s. because its the "newest" model i grew to like the car for its style instead of its age my girlfriend and some friends like the s14 more too and i asked them why and they said its newer. i mean besides our pockets aren't loaded imagine buying a 9k car or whatever vs a 2.5-3k car and dumping in 6gs that can be enough for paint, kouki stuff and new wheels

it's hard to adapt to at first just like many people dont like gold/bronze rims at first. it grew in for me later on

oh yeah and if you end up smashing the car "if theres any form of racing: track, mountain, or spirited driving involved" expect it!! its cheaper to buy another 13 chassis and stripping the other car than getting a 14.

it's the same reason why i didnt buy a gtr32 because if i end up smashing it is gonna be a xxxx to replace. 13 is good to be cuz non running chassis can go as little as what a grand?? yeah stock up on fenders i always dent mine up

it's your choice though, buy whatever you like i'm just informing i guess as a person that once liked the 14

s14 guys i hope i didnt offend you i know some people with 14s too its just taste i guess i respect everyones taste im just expressing mine

I have to go back to school. So all cars have to go and I have to buy a new or used one with low miles because I will have it a while. I don't want to sell my cars but I have too. I may keep the maxima, I love that car. Looking at New Scion orUsed Lexus SC300.
