I'm have an A/C slash fan speed problem.. posted a question on a forum.. a guy answers saying he can "shed some light" on my problem... with a link for a total different problem. i'm frustrated and wish i could shake people to a serious concussion through the interwebs.

Well I guess it's a common problem but I have an 02 protege5 the fan doesn't work on 1-3 buy blows air on 4 and the ac button stays lit on 1-3 but turns off on 4 I know it's the switch cuz it's fried but I can't find one anywhere not the junkyard here and we have an app address so the one climate control unit I found doesn't ship here. I'm going to the states on Monday so I'm going to look at junkyards there

For the fan speed issue, it sounds like your blower motor resistor is fried. The highest speed is direct, with no resistance, so it still works.

I concur, it's probably not the switch, but the resistor.

You'd be surprised at how you can ghetto-rig some other make's resistors to work with your car... Or even different models from the same manufacturer!
