This topic has started so many fights on this site it's not even funny and I would let it die but I just have to say I have a 95 S14 with a full aftermarket exhaust setup on it's KA that goes 2.75 4-1 header, downpipe, testpipe into a Buddy Club Pro-Spec II which is 90mm at the start and feeds into a 115mm tailpipe no resonator. My car is NA and I have no other mods at this time but I do have a spare KA that will be getting ripped apart and built for turbo (estimated build time 1.5 yrs) and the engine in the car might have a turbo by the end of the summer. Either way I have noticed a massive improvement in performance and torque and I have a whole new love for my car... yeah it's hella loud but that's part of what I went for to begin with but ultimately wanted to not have to fork out money later on a second exhaust when I could just put on one now and be done with it.

My NA KA with Hotshot header and 2.5" BRM exhaust with resonator is loud enough that my wife doesn't like to ride in my car. Personally, I think it rocks, but much louder and I'd probably get tired of it. The main thing that increased the noise for me was actually the header.

So you are saying it drones?

It does drone a bit at around 3000 RPM, but it's not too bad. I'm used to it.

my 3" sounds pretty nice actually, doesnt feel like it drones out, its just flowing through the pipe perfectly making it sound quiet.

My old shop teacher put a 4" muffler in his daughter's ek 4 door. Its like come'on man, that makes honda's look real bad

You know what, I've seen this said a couple times "It's PROVEN 3" exhaust does not lose horsepower or torque in the lower end"

So I searched for the proof. I find IIRC somebody on here has proven it. IIRC correctly you wont lose power. IIRC 3" is big enough to finally get my d*ck in the piping..

Will someone stop IIRC'n and actually prove it? We have theory vs. theory battles out the wazoo but without any proof I still say none of it matters except the way you want it to sound and where you like your power.

Doesn't the piping matter more than the exhaust? When people talk about 3in exhaust are they talking about the muffler tip or the whole downpipe?

3" means the piping, muffler tips are referred to as... 'tips' and if you're talking about the entrance and exit of the muffler it's called the mufflers inlet and outlet diameters.
