.....lowering springs. Should I have them professionally installed or is it a pretty easy DIY project? Any input would be appreciated!

not hard, just time consuming if you are working alone. I think it took me around 4-5 hours by myself and taking my time. Be sure and rent a set of spring compressors for the struts and make sure the springs are seated correctly on the spring pad before you tighten everything down.

Well here's my input: I attempted installing Eibachs by myself yesterday. I started with the rears because I didn't have spring compressors for the front yet. Rears were no problem, knocked out both sides in about 20 minutes. On to the front. I took out the struts, still pretty easy. Taking out the factory springs wasn't too much of a challenge. But here comes the bad part. I spent maybe 4 or 5 hours trying to compress the new springs and put the struts back together. Tried different placements of the spring compressors, even upside down, just couldn't get the springs compressed and aligned. A big part of the problem was the new springs were skinnier and leaned off center, so the spring compressors didn't fit the struts. Finally gave up, and tomorrow I'm going to get the springs mounted onto the struts at a shop. Maybe I just didn't know what I was doing, no idea, but best of luck to you if you decide to DIY.

Also didn't have an impact wrench, so that was hell. Get one.

Interesting ^

I can't recall having too much trouble putting the compressors on the eibachs, it required a little more finesse but nothing crazy. Also doing this without an impact wrench would suck lol

your compressors looked like this right?

hmmm, well you gave it a shot which counts for something lol Hopefully they don't charge you a ton for switching out two springs, should take a pro 30-45 mins to complete I would think.

VERY important piece of the puzzle: break the bolt on top of the strut inside the engine bay loose BEFORE you do anything else. Other wise you will hate yourself. Also make sure the bolt is actually broken loose and not just rotating inside the top of the strut mount shredding it to pieces. Not that it happened to me or anything...

If you can hold the strut vertically in a vice I think this will help getting the spring on and off.

I took the struts to a shop and got it done in like 10 minutes. The compressor that the shop had was so much easier to use. I mounted everything back onto the car and took it for a test drive. Handles like a dream

eibachs typically drop the car about 1.5 inches front and rear, but they will settle a little lower after a while. I've had mine on for close to 4 years and they have def settled closer to 2-2.25 inches.

Before- (I didn't have the nismo wheels before I dropped it, but gap would have been the same.)

Wow I hope mine settle that low. I can still fit like 2 and a half or 3 fingers into the gap.

Hey just finished this install tonight with my dad and my buddy. The rears were really easy and the fronts took about three hours. The tutorial way over complicated the steps and really it's incredibly simply. The only difficult part was compressing the new springs onto the struts in a way that would actually seat onto the strut. All in all I enjoyed doing it and feel proud that I've never let a shop do any work for me!!

I have all the proper tools available to me and if I didn't have an impact gun I wouldn't do it again haha

Thanks for the input everyone!! Me and my bro did them all today, just have some bad news. He SEVERED a brake line. Dont ask me how. I shoulda been watching him, instead I was working the other front wheel. The drop is sick but renders useless without brakes lol pics will be up soon!

Can't wait to drop my car, looks great. Out of curiosity what rims do you have on your car, looking for something similar but defiantly that color.

Well I just maxed out my rear camber adjustment and I'm still at -1.0 or so in the rear.

I finally realized that I wanted to lower first because it'll make your ride that much nicer right away and let you wait until you really know what you want and how much you need to save. Then once you've got that your new wheels will look great immediately and you won't have to drive around on big wheels at 4x4 status haha.
