the factory AOD trans is pretty decent, thank GOD she didnt get a 4.6L stang. But the biggest problem with the 5.0 is its a SEVERLY Choked up motor. The heads are absolute DOG ****, the exhaust is terribly small and restrictive, the stock TB is only 45mm at MAX and the smog system destroys it. Not to mention the factory 2.93 gears. I would suggest putting an intake tube, headers, Xpipe and catback, and some 3.73 gears in the car, should pep it up quite a bit. The convertable models should run a 15.5 factory.
I have mine in the mid 13s on a good launch onl because ive got 3.55 gears, aluminum driveshaft, full 2.5" exhaust, smog system is totally deleted from the system, intake tube, and MSD ignition system.
mustangs are overweight, PIGS. ford still hasnt smartened up like chevrolet did... maybe one day they will... wait... NO they wont hahaha
