Hey guys, I'm planning on going to my local shop and having my y pipe and back removed and having true dual straight pipes installed;)

Just wondering if I am going to be the first Altima coupe with true duals. I'll keep everyone who is interested updated.

I dont think its been done by anyone on here. You do realize that its going to be ridiculously loud, right? When you say true dual straight pipe I assume you mean just that? No resonators or mufflers in line?

When I installed my Borla axle back I gave the car a few revs without an exhaust. It still had the Y Pipe and midpipe connected, and was LOUD.

Sounds like a cool project. I don't see much room for that though. Keep us posted.

All 3.5 Altimas have a "dual" exhaust simply because it's a V engine, albeit they do not have straight pipes which are pretty much never stock because of noise. The 2.5 has a "fake dual" exhaust in the sense that there is only one actual exhaust output being split up to 2 mufflers.

they do have a "dual exhaust" but not a "true dual exhaust". After the first 2 primary cats, the exhaust piping snakes around a bunch and then goes into 1 pipe with the secondary cat there. from there it's 1 pipe to a muffler which has 2 outlets. True dual is 2 pipes the whole time...

No one has done it before. It may be a little difficult because of the way the piping snakes around (not a whole lot of room). good luck! after I sound deaden my car I plan to just have a magnapack resonator.

Well I went and had a buddy of mine look at it and give me a rough quote, he said about $250 because I'm gonna have to throw in some bends. So I think I'm going to take the plunge guys!:)

P.s. yes I know its gonna be loud, that's the point;)

Isn't this illegal? Wouldn't you get tickets for the sound alone plus never pass smog/inspection again?

Just got back, I didn't get pictures of the undercarriage but I can tell you it was snug. Part of the pipes actually scrape when going over speedbumps or potholes ect. I had him straight pipe it and it was too loud, coming from me, so heed that warning. I had him throw in two glasspack resonators and it sounds perfect. I'm trying to get a video uploaded of the sound so gimme a minute.

Edit: if you can picture a normal single exhaust setup it's almost identical. He just ran two pipes separate from each precat back and bent them to the bumper cutouts.

did you reduce the diameter of the pipes when you started the 2 pipe?

Good thing you added the resonators lol. Otherwise it would have been a fail. As it stands I give it an A+! Sounds great! Great vid! Funny ending :)

WOW! That sounds REALLY good! I'm impressed.

Do you have any photos of your undercarriage and the piping we could see? :)

Wow, sounds great. I think without the glasspacks it would be a much different story.

NOW THE PICS!

You must not understand much about exhausts to know why they connect the 2 exhaust outputs and why it's still 2 separate streams whereas what OP was talking about is putting on straight pipes like a truck.

why dont you just shut the f*** up?

when people say "dual exhaust" they're referring to the tail pipes, not the full exhaust system coming from the exhaust manifolds. people say "true dual" when they're referring to 2 separate exhaust streams coming from the engine. The OP asked if he was the first to have a true dual exhaust set-up. Everyone understood exactly what he was talking about, except you.

Hussain, I'm positive you know better than to talk like that to another member in our forum. Totally not necessary. Lets keep this thread on topic and friendly man.

If anyone has an issue. PM me. Otherwise lets get back to the discussion.

I dont think Hussain was the one instigating it.

Anyways, congrats on the set up. Sounds great. It probably wouldnt sound that good on a 2.5s though =(

I can see that there was a misunderstanding, however there is a better way to handle things.

Now, lets see some pics of this thing!
