The idea behind this is the first music you ever bought (most likely as a pre-teen).

What was it?When was it?Do you still listen to that type/artist today? What media was it?Do you remember the price? And in the spirit of VH1, Where are they now?

(it will sadden me to think most of you are like "someone" who has never purchased music:()

You meant what I knew

I intentionally didn't use any standard nomenclature (Album, Tape, CD, etc) to allow for everyone to make their own interpretation.

Some may say the first they ever bought was some type of sheet music.

Amy Grant - Heart In MotionI was 12.I just downloaded her Greatest Hits album. It was on a cassette. The CD was available back in 1992 or whatever but our family couldnt afford one yet.It was only 12 bucks! She remarried to Vince Gill and releases an album every 3-4 years.

My first record was The Beatles (forgot which album, but I think it was Help!). My dad was sort of a hippie.First cassette was Arrested Development.First CD was GreenDay's Insomniac and Smashing Pumkins' Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

I can't remember dates or prices, but if you know the music, I'm sure you could figure that out.

My taste in music is all over the place so yeah I pull out the old stuff every once in a while (though now most of it happens to be in digital format)

I don't know, probably Metallica - Black Album, or Ace of Base. Maybe Beetles - Revolver. Hard to remember.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Into the Great Wide OpenI don't remember when...I was just a little kid, probably 8 or 10 or something like that.I still listen to Tom Petty today. Great driving music. I am trying to get all my cassettes re-purchased on CD so I can listen to them in my car, but it's hard to find his stuff on CD--especially Into the Great Wide Open.Where are they now? I assume he's either touring or in a studio recording songs for a new album. Tom Petty is still one of my all time favorite artists. Not many songs can match Running Down a Dream or Love is a Long Road--or Mary Jane's Last Dance...great guitar work.

At around $16 a piece, that'd $16,000 in CD's. That's why I stopped buying CD's for the most part, realized how much money I was spending on them.

Of course people remember those. I may be young, but I still have a respectable Vinyl collection. I've even got the original vinyl release of Led Zeppelin (I). I've got Queen and CCR and the Cars, I've even got bread.

Vinyl records must never die. Because it's already too expensive to find replacement needles for my turntable, and I can't survive without a little CCR every once in a while.

Well, technically, I believe my first cd buy was:Sister Hazel- Somewhere More Familiar (1997)CDEvery once in awhile I listen to it for old times (bought it in 4th grade) sake. It's very much more pop-rock than I normally listen to, and a lot softer.

Truly though, I didn't really start buying CDs til last year:Incubus- Make Yourself (1996)CDListen to it often, and always will. Incubus got me through some real tough times from about October (when I bought the CD) to March or so (bought 4 of their cds in that time), and is still getting me through stuff now.

Yeah, youngin.
