today i washed my cars interior and did a short rinse and clean on the exterior...

after i was done i took it in the back lot and spotted a 90 degree left hander....i rolled to it at about 15mph and jammed the steering wheel left and gunned it and the back swung out decently....not impressive but its a start

its a stock 1997....and yes i am 15(no license, no permit)and this was my noobish thread zerothread?id=137824

so how did you start drifting and when?

1st time i attempted drifting was in an 89 240 coupe with open diff. i was 18 and didnt know what to expect. I traveled this road regularly and it went downhill and had a wide right hand turn onto another road. I downshifted to 2nd and hammered the gas around the turn and experienced snap oversteer and spun the car out and almost hit a telephone pole. Lesson learned that day. Next time i tried drifting (almost 6 months later) was after i got a Nismo LSD and Tein s tech springs. I just installed my B&M shifter and it was raining out and around 11pm. Went to a huge parking lot and practiced for around 15 minutes. Taught myself how to control the car, react quicker, and drive calmer. Ive been drifting little by little ever since. With my SR ive done Pendulum drifts at 70mph in 3rd gear so i am getting better than my first experience.

First.. Don't drift the car on the streets... just don't.. a 15mph powerover is nothing, which is good because if you tried more you would have crashed.. You usually use the ebrake to initiate on a 90 turn going snail pace... (don't try it on the streets)

My first time drifting?... Well... I was doing about 45mph on a track at 6000RPM, tap the break turn the wheel and bam it slides..

Now I come in at 70mph... in 3rd..

The kid in this photo (his name is Adam) is 16 and he can drift...

what you did was not a drift, nor can you drift.

ok.. look kid... im not trying to pick on you or anything, its just that you dont seem responsible, or mature enough to grasp the concept of the whole thing... Maybe you do like drifting, and love cars, but when I saw your xanga site... it told me another story. Just be careful, and dont try to do anything stupid... you're lucky that you have a 240.... and you are even luckier that you have a car when you are 15. Just try to be responsible about it, because if things keep going on the way that they are with you now, i doubt you will even have the same car when you get your license

o... yea, for everyone else's entertainment http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=evoh26

Kid... Since your dad has a dealership, you should get a cheaper manual beater to play around with...

But I'll stay on topic and answer you topic.

My first sideways slide was in My FIRST car a 90 integra. Now before everyone goes off on me, lemme explain. I was on the freeway @80mph, in the fast lane, and my rear pass tire blew. The rear got wobbley and started pulling towards a soccer mom and her kids so I tried to steer away and wound up sideways till I hit the overpass pillar on the passenger side door. Ever since then I really haven't been scared of sliding but pissed that I couldn't control it.

First actual drift was on the streets (i know Stupid) at 2am in a dead undeveloped area of AZ. 90deg Left entered 4th gear@ 45mph. Hard brake, Turned, down shifted to 3rd, gas and counter steered. no problem sliding... but I let off the gas to fast at the exit and upset traction. so I swung the other way in to the dirt.

I learned not to let off the gas to fast and I was more pissed at how I couldn't control the Integra.

Now I practice in a dirt field... easier on the tires and Less traction. You learn more about control this way.

Comon Kamin, Im on az240 too same SN and I think I met you numerous times LOL. Naw I would goto NASA and AZRA but I gotta take out the Cameron swap and get a new motor. So Im short changed for now. Last time I did NASA I kept overheating. Maybe I'll take it there and attempt to blow this unholy engine but I dont think Joe and them all will like it...

Well my first real day of drifting was on a dirt road with my dads little toyota tacoma, my cousin lives in the country and I drove up and down this dirt road a million times(yes its manual supprisingly), that was some of the most fun Ive ever had. And all it takes even with all of its 110 hp is a clutch kick in the dirt. But now I have my S14 and have had some good times in that as well, though it gives me problems everywhere, and im starting to need more power. So hopefully Ill have enough money for an SR by this summer. I thought it was soo fast when I first drove it after that truck lol.

ill stay on topic and answer your question.

my first drift experience was in my 94 MR2 turbo. i purchased it around my sophomore year in high school and i was really amateur into suspension tuning. i focused most of the money on my motor.

an MR2 isnt a really easy thing to drift if you're an amateur because it really loves to oversteer...like A LOT. i wanted to learn safely so i went to a DDay and participated in a drift clinic.

at first, i was reluctant to take corners at high speed, but after awhile, with the deviant handling, i was able to take corners based on my instructors steps. at first all i did was power over at turns, but then i learned feint as well as shift locking. since i have short legs but big feet, i had to heel toe with my left foot on clutch and brake and my right foot on the gas. all in all it was one of the best days of my life.

its really all about just getting out there and taking the corner at a quick but reasonable speed. and do it in a controlled environment. i used to do **** in parking lots, but man, with the time u invest in a car as well as money, its not worth it to lose it to a cop or a tree.

and STREET RACERS SUCK. it ruins the fun for us guys who work their *** for their hobby (especially us SR dudes...haha).

....Again. I remember the last thread. it wasn't "noobish", it was completely retarded. I really hate to bash on kids like this, but i hate kids... a lot.

*trying to calm down*

Seriously, do yourself a huge favor...no dont buy a honda, no dont sell the car, no dont just kill the car now and put it out of its pain.... get another car you can learn on. Save a clean 240 for later. You are only 15...15!!!! I didn't even have a car yet. you have plenty of time to learn and practice. At least right now you know what you wanna do to your car later. TAke the time now and do it right, enter events (when you are able to), take it slow, and be safe. Please, i dont wanna read another thread about how you crashed ur car doing power overs.

Just some advice.....

Oh and my first time drifting...hmmm, all stock in the rain on some industial streets. Dont tell me about "ohuhh ur gay, street drifters are gay, bluh bluh. go to events blah blah", back then no1 knew what drifting was and there were no events. Trust me, i know now and yes, street drifting is wrong... but yea, i spun out, loved it, learned from it, still learning, waiting for a nor-cal event to happen so i can do it right.

peace.

My first drifting experince was last night! It was an absoulte blast!! It was at a legal event, so no broken laws. I did find the clutch kick worked well given that I never saw more than 30mph in the small space provided.

I used to "drift" around corners on the dirt roads behind my house in my moms Ford Ranger back when I was 14. lol I also used to drive in the fields after snow storms and pull the ebrake on a geometero my parents bought for $300. Those cars are tough as hell. Never got stuck, very little body roll. It was practically a gocart only faster... not much faster though.
