You heard right, there is hope for us 2.5ers after all with Artisan... i just got my Artisan Exhaust installed on my 2.5 A/C and it sounds amazing!! i seriously got a little weak in the knees when it first started up...lol It sounds nothing like any 4 banger ive ever heard... i couldnt believe me ears! The vids dont even come close to showin it justice. I just uploaded the vids so you can compare stock vs. Artisan. I do have an Injen intake on for both but you cant even tell...lol

Sorry about the poor audio quality, i was in a bit of a rush. Ill try and get some better vids up tomorrow.. I posted some pics too... Check it out

This is where they made the cut and welded it together so it would fit right.. everything else was pretty much plug and play

DAAAAAAAAAMN YOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUZZZZZZ!!!! lol I was gonna buy it from Mcheddadi but when I went back to his marketplace listing you'd already bought it!!! hahaGood job bro, sounds really good!

It looks like it's just a straight-pipe on there. Is there even a true muffler on it anywhere?

Hahah.. yeah i really love the sound! The exhaust is mostly straight pipe but right by the cat where it connects it has a Magnaflow. You can see a bit of it in the last pic i posted.

Well i bought mine from mcheddadi for $600 but i know turbochargers.com sells it for about $720. Cost $130 to get it installed and thats including having the guy cut out about an 1 1/2 in. and move it forward to fit. Thats the only thing with fitting it for the 2.5, its a couple inches too long, but the guy got it to fit no problem. (and yes i know i just set myself up for a couple "thats what she said" jokes right there..

As far as bein barefoot..lol its cause after i had gotten home from gettin it installed it was hot as h*** in my house cause our thermostat was broken so i was tryin to cool off so i changed into something more comfortable...lol

The Magnaflow is the muffler/resonator which from what i believe helps give it that deep rich throaty growl.

Performance wise, it does seem to pull a bit more but its hard to tell cause i really only had time to drive it home. I floored it a couple times and it does seem to have a little more high end power.

I will post more results when i can get a good butt dyno read

Ive got nothing against Stillens exhaust personally but it seems to scream at higher RPM's, just about all of em do, on the 2.5 and just doesnt sound aggressive IMO

My friend has the same problem, he never wears shoes, he claims his feet get hot.

Is this exhaust for a turbo or 3.5?

Why did it have to be cut?

Backflow pressure issues?

My feet didnt get hot, i just dont wear shoes around the house...lol

Its for a 3.5 non-turbo. It had to be cut because the exhaust is just a little too long to fit the 2.5 but only by a couple inches. The guy lined it up with the cat before her cut it and the hangers didnt match up cause of the different lenghts.

After he cut it tho it fit perfectly, all the hangers went right where they need to be.

As far as back pressure goes, i think it has lost some. Once he took the stock pipes off i got a good look at it and its about 1" to 1 1/2" but about halfway down it has a hugh crimp in the pipe and the Artisan is open all the way through.

It did seem to lose some lower end power but it could just be a placebo because it sounds sooo aggressive that i feel like it should take off like a V8 but its just a 4 so it "feels" different. I do think that i hit 60 a bit faster though.

I only had the chance to drive it home from the shop so i dont have a lot of feedback on it right now. Once i drive it around for a bit i will have some better feedback. i think if worse comes to worse then i may just try crimp the new pipe to increase the back preassure.

JD i hate to say it... but id bet a dollar your losing power.. (not that it matters)...

My nismo exhaust has that same bend (2.5), id assume with reason.

I will say that this does sound great though, maybe not as fantastic as the nismo (im bias!) but head and shoulder better SOUNDING than the other options, i actually like the way it sounds on your car better than Mendi's!

edit- crimping the pipe! kudos for having the guts/foresight to try and improve the performance aspect on your own!

Im just confused because well i dont know much about airflow issues. What would you crimp it with?

Self crimp or an exhaust shop?

This is the stock exhaust...

This is what im talkin about by crimping the pipe. It shouldnt do anything negative to the pipe. the crimp will increase back pressure which will result in more lower end power. Im not talkin about putting a hairpin bend in the pipe. Its just gonna be flattening a couple inches of the pipe.

Not sure how or where i would take it yet, but im not doin anything to it as of yet.

Ok so i just got back from another drive with the exhaust... Again i LOVE the sound. It has such a deep aggressive growl when accelerating and down shifting, and its actually pretty quiet when cruising, even at 3000 RPM, which is great for listening to my music

And as for losing back pressure... i didnt notice a loss in lower end power at all this time. Its actually a bit more powerful in both lower and higher RPMs. Im still playing with the idea of crimping the pipe a little bit to create a bit more back pressure to see if it would give me more power but i dont want to end up myself cause it takes away some.

As of right now i LOVE the exhaust and wouldnt put any other one on there or change it a bit.

How much do you suppose it would cost a shop to fabricate something like this? I mean, it's a very simple design and the muffler is just a 6" Magnaflow race can (~$80 for that...). Seeing as turbochargers.com is asking $700+ for it, does anyone think it would be cheaper to get it custom made? I'm not familiar with the costs of pipes and bending them so I truly have no idea here!
