the blocks are in very good condition. i have two head here that i am coin-tossing on which to use. rb25det VVT head and the r32 rb25de head, which is direct bolt on; only thing is the rb25det head is stronger and will better suits my power goal. i like to use the rb26dett head, but it's too much trouble sourcing one for reasonable price.

Talk to RIPS and Spool Imports. They had some reasonably priced ones when I went shopping a little while back. Stealth-Z actually pointed me at Spool.

Which rods and pistons are you going to go with?

are you kidding me. i already spoke with Rob (RIPS) last year, they want way too much for the rb30 short blocks, let alone the RB26dett head. LOL....

Really? Maybe he was feeling generous when he quoted me

I know Spool has them starting at $750, but in varying condition.

and it's sad to think people in australia just throw these away or toss to the side in their garage. If you could only get them over here as cheap as they're worth to them.

Just a few days ago there was a RB25DE on ebay for a buy it now price of $350. It was up for 2 hours till someone bought it. That would have been good for you.

My RB30 build is progressing slowly. The JUN crank collar has finally been installed. Now I am waiting on a twin plate Ogura Clutch setup from NICO Member DETurbine. Then everything can be balanced and assembled. So much for the JGY lightened flywheel and clutch setup I already have!http://www.fairladyzg.com/engine.htm

My assembly time is on hold till the flywheel / clutch arrives. Plus with the holiday's it looks like assembly will not start till January. The plan is for me to be there durring assembly. We will decking the block and shaving the head till we get a CR of around 8.5. Plus I want to be sure of the quench area clearance.

your squish area definately need to be miminized while not hitting valves, otherwise your responsiveness suffers

The Wiseco Pistons have some deep valve releifs cut into them. Should be interesting to see how they measure out. The Wiseco's I have are supposed to yeild 9.1 CR but I kind of have doubts. As the build progresses I will be taking lots of pictures to document everything.

I am going to stick with the stock R33 RB26 twin turbo setup for now. My first goal is to get it up and running. Modifications can come later. The bottom end will be able to withstand some decent turbo mods.

Isn't the deck height on the RB30 block taller than the RB25/26? If so, what timing belt are you planning on using? Will the RB30 timing belt still fit?

Why don't you email RIPS in AU and just buy one from him.He does RB30 motors, he should know or could even sell you one.Maybe more money but it probably would be easier.

why buy it when i can build one yourself for fraction of the cost; and that's the way i like it. sometimes it's better to do things yourself.

the rb30 block deck is about 30mm taller than other rb's.

BoostsFed,

What are your hp goals? I've been planning on a RB25/30 build, just saving up money and looking for a reliable place to source a block. Do you mind sharing the price you paid for the block shipped to your door? And who did you get it through? Recommend again?

Rips is a rip off, hence the name Rips. I would rather hit myself in the 00 with a gigantic sledge hammer than pay those rediculous prices, even if I didnt have to pay the outrageous shipping price.
