i got the tune up and ez install kits from srswap.com. i got new plugs, oil/fuel filters, new belts, heater hoses, radiator hose, aiv plug, and some info on how to use/install it all. some guys argue that a gasket set is a good idea, i agree but i didnt have the $ for that. new fuel lines are a good idea, new motor mounts, but i figured that since im poor and the motor had 60k miles, i wouldnt worry about them. and since u have a 91, u dont have to worry about ac or ps lines. look at the sr stickey and more is there.

Have someone else around to help you remove and reinstall the wiring harness. Getting it through the firewall and down behind the dash is a PITA. At least it was on my s14. Retain the KA transmission/starter harness. Save all your parts in a somewhat organized way. Also, take very careful mental inventory of exactly how any stock parts you are messing with were beforehand. Oh, and I know you said not to suggest any parts you need, but seriously, INSTALL A BETTER FUEL PUMP! And get a new waterpump. Simple failure of a simple part can turn into a big problem. Wear eye protection. Have fun!

My KA fuel lines wouldn't reach. I tore the injector O rings (be careful with them)I mixed up my ECU'sI forgot about the plug underneith the fuse box.

Also on the transmission... swap all the sensors and use the KA transmission harness. Noone ever talks about that!

Oh good seems like you're all set then. Oh yeah, measure and make your heater hoses beforehand. Your SR probably came with long ones that you can cut down anyway. Well I am actually using the JDM cluster, so I am better off with those sensors anyway. Oh, right, that's why I goofed up and used the SR harness...

none of my transmission sensors worked with the ka harness. All the connectors were different for me.

S13RT -> S13

Even if you don't swap any others... Definately swap the Speed sensor for the KA one or your spedo will be off

...even if I am using the gauge cluster that came with that transmission? Too late now anyway, i sold the KA transmission with the sensors attached.

when taking out the KA dont forget to empty ALL fluids (including the transmission fluid) unless you want a big mess. Also, dont forget to take off the whole shifter or it will get caught on the bottome of your car.

it's not the dash... it's the plugs that don't work... you can cut them and stuff but it's easier to use the KA sensors... (the speed sensor might work the plugs are the same on that thing)

You know to drop the SR engine and transmission together (attached), right?

It's not a must to drop them into the engine bay attached, but it just saves you lots of time and trouble.

I recently started my swap as well. I retained the KA lower harness and sensor, but I had 2 extra sensors in the KA transmission that were plugged on the SR. Is this correct?

2 stupid questions.

1. What exactly is the "lower harness"2. How do you empty the transmission fluid?

1)the lower harness is the transmission harness, it is seperate from the main engine harness

2)there is a inverse square socket screw thing on the bottom center of the transmission, i just used a 1/2 inch drive socket wrench to undo it (make sure you have a pan or something to catch all the fluid!)
